Ok so we've noticed a small issue on a cold start. As soon as it cranks it runs up in rpm but nothing crazy...probably just normal there. But once it peaks it will drop to like 200-300 rpm and flop around there for a bit and sometimes die out. We have speed bumps in out neighborhood and when I hear my son coming up to one and clutching it, it again will drop and sound like its about to shut off. Once its good and warm it doesn't do it as bad. We are still using the base tune Lito sent us. Should be getting an updated tune in a day or two. Is this normal for these cams or do yall think a tune will clear things up?
The pcm is just pissed and is having an issue with the cams. Let lito know about the issue. He will know what to log.
That said, you did let it learn idle after the job was done?

the high initial rev at cold start annoyed me, until I reduced the RPM adders in the
tune to around 180 for all of them, iirc.

also, setting your idle and drive rpm to 850 might help the car run a bit smoother when not fully
up to temp.

We let it idle about 10 mins or so when we first fired it up and install if thats what you mean.

Just an update on this one, we are on the second tune revision from Lito and it seems to be running like a champ. It got rid of the chocking and dying on cold start. Idle is set to 760 I believe. We did a pull the other day to send to him and holy cow she is running like a scalded bandit! My son was doing the driving and I had the laptop so I didnt see exactly where the rpm was, but I remember 2 different times where you could really feel the torque pick up and it set you back in the seat some more. It felt strong. So far I'm very impressed with how its running. Lito is the champ no doubt about it.

Lito is good, no doubt there. Mine took 3 iterations (blower tune). 2 runs to get the power up and then detune her slightly for longevity. Been running great ever since (going on 3 years now).

I'm glad you're as happy as a pig in a mud bath. ;) No question Lito's the man. Typically on a N/A 3V with Hot Rod cams, you'll see a 50-60lbft surge in torque from about 3000-4200rpm. The 4.10 axle gears disguise the torque loss at lower rpm and magnify the torque gain at higher rpm so yes, from about 3500rpm upwards the car is going to run like a bank robber being chased by the cops. :D

Who the &*%^ advised you to use an impact on something as fragile as these plugs? I would stay away from that person. It's easy enough to break one doing everything right.
While I agree with your opinion, it’s about 50/50 split with people who recommend an impact and those who say to do it by hand. Not just here, but most other Ford and mechanic advice sites.

I have broken way more bolts using hand tools and breaker bars vs using an impact wrench.
If I had to do this job, I would likely use my 3/8 butterfly impact, on a hot engine. But you have to know how to use the tools for the task at hand. Any fastener that is "stuck" (yes, I'm just calling the spark plug a "bolt" that is stuck) must be worked back and forth to work lose, not just try to remove in one shot.

Actually people have great success with an impact. Mainly because of the way the force is applied. I’ve always used an electric impact at the track pulling plugs between rounds.

I grew up without the benefit of air powered tools. I learned how to do everything by hand.
When it came time to replace the 10 year old plugs in my 05, the idea of using an impact never crossed my mind. Didn’t break any either.

how is an oil pump a high volume pump when the same gears fit into it and also the stock pump?
Good question. It didn't occur to me to compare the two before I installed the HV pump. My guess would be the high volume pump would have a larger OD on the inner great and a larger ID on the outer gear, and/or a different lobe/pocket configuration.
