Hey everyone, I'm going to be selling a 4.6L aluminator block soon and I was wondering what the group consensus is on how to get the most $$$ out of it as far as selling it as-is... Or having a machine shop do all the basic machining so it's "ready" for a rotating assembly.

My gut is that people would want to buy a block as-is so it can be machined to their specs / parts. This block has never been machined before.

I'm also assuming that the stock crank, rods and pistons are of no value to anyone wanting the block for a build, as I expect the buyer would want to put in an all-forged, or stroker, rotating assembly.

Thanks for any input.

I would sell as is, not only do people want to machine to their specs but the money you spend you will not get back.

Sell as is. A bare block with heads can go for around 6-900. No sense in spending the money to have it machined for someone else because odds are it will have to be machined again.

Where does this block rank in the general heirarchy of the 4.6 (2v Romeo, 2v Windsor, Teksid, 3v, WAP, and Terminator blocks)?

It's a modular 4.6L block. It was originally a 3v, but could be used in a variety of applications either 2v or 4v.

This block is the Nemak "aluminator" one with the "chilled bulkheads" so it is debated whether or not it is the strongest 4.6 block... There thread's upon threads of the debate between the Teksid and the Aluminator strength. The 03-04 Cobra block is iron... So about 80 pounds heavier and really no strength difference.
