The closest E85 pump is 30 miles from here. I was reading that it's really not E85 in the winter but more like E50. I have not seen this pump but some pumps give you options of E25 and E30 and maybe even E40. In most states standard gas is E10. In some states standard gas is as high as E20. They make test kits to test gas now. A simple test bottle is just $12 on Amazon. Then there is a table for ratios. Full gas should give a reading of 14.7:1. The gas I use gives me a reading of 14:1 on my Track Apps Cluster which is updated every 1/2 second meaning E10 gas. E30 would be like 13:1 and E85 would be about 8:1. Corrosive aspects aside, has anyone used any of this mix types in their Coyote?

You're making my head hurt, this early in the AM, with all these #'s.

Sorry, but no for me...try for ethanol-free, or lowest level when refilling. Sure others will chime in w/ better response to your fuel experiment.

I might run half and half in the future as it will make more power.

I have no reason to make more power. Even if I turn it up to 800 the base model 3 fwd is faster... maybe I'll just cut the mufflers off.

5BABCB5A-7FE0-43EE-B015-4E296A1770C9.jpeg I have never seen ethanol levels under 70% in the three years since switching to E85. They are at 81% in the summer months and then ramp down in the fall and back up in the spring. Legally they can be anywhere from 51%-83%. E10 makes up over 95% of the gas sold, and E15 available in limited areas.
I have a digital ethanol content gauge installed in my car since a different tune is needed for the difference from 70% to 80%. So I change tunes every 6 months.
If you are N/A, there isn’t much of a reason to run E85. If you are FI, it is great. 10% more horsepower, greater margin of safety against detonation, and much cheaper than 93 octane.
Ethanol is not corrosive to EFI vehicles. The soft non-ferrous metals that were used in carburetors are no longer used. These are what can be damaged by ethanol.
The only things I had to change in my 2005 GT was a larger fuel pump and the tune from Lito.

That’s a blender pump

E85 has seasonal blends 70-85% depending on region and time of year

Henry Ford Sinclair stuff for your Coyote. Take your pick. Is it E30 or E50? Winter blend seems to E70. Just about any blend has an octane in the high 90's. Example 60% E70 105 octane with 40% 91 octane E10 = 99.5 octane. That would be E42

If you are going to run ethanol at all, I'd run the E85 (or whatever the highest you can get). I don't see the point wasting your time with the other ratios.

I wish I had the same time and energy to dump into something as trivial as hypothetical gas grades for my car.

When I was tuning for E85 with Lito, he had me test with varying percentages of ethanol. He told me later did this in a attempt to save me from having to buy new injectors. With my original injectors, I could have used a blend of E50-E55. This would have required test the ethanol content before filling and then trying to figure out how much E85, which varies by time of year and from station to station, to add along with the proper amount of 93 octane.
I popped for the new injectors.

It would seem by watching what is going on with my track apps cluster giving real time air/fuel ratios every 1/2 second, a stock tune would cover to at least E50.

I've had my 2011 GT since Dec 2020, only run E85 and have put on about 5k miles. Needed a tune and upgrade the injectors to 47#. No issues, more power even for NA rides, and much cheaper than 93 octane. I've used E85 tunes from VMP and 5-Star.

Air Fuel Ratios. My Track Apps Cluster gives 14.1 for 10% E10.

So why can't a 2014 Coyote learn to run on E30 at 98.7 Octane? For sure there would be no timing pulls at this octane level. It seems E30 would be 12 gals of E10 BP93 and 4 gals of E85 Sheetz109 from the local Sheetz across the street. My Track Apps reading should be about 13:1 at cruse and 11.2 at full power.

So I got 3 gals of E85 at the Sheetz at the Martinsburg Air Base with C17's overhead flying out to Afghanistan. I also filled my Altima SR 3.5 with $40 of E15. I got 34mpg going home. The highest ever. The E85 only smells slightly as gas. Pump says E51 to E83. I am going to Altoona later today. So we will see.
