And thanks for bringing the wrath of the EPA down on the rest of us. These new rules coming down the pike are due to ppl like you who dont give a fuck about the rest of us.

I blame the rolling coal diesel douche bags for the EPA wrath.

So I take it your car is stock then
Mostly, yes. I have cats, cai and tune. No emissions disabled. Engine is 100% stock. This configuration would pass visual and plug in test till now. Not sure what the future holds thanks to the "delete" crowd. After this weekend, the stock airbox is likely going back on as CAI proved to have no significant advantage.

Ps: my supercharged 91 is also compliant and passed emissions. I have all the applicable stickers for emission compliant mods on the rad suport. Now it is an antique, and visual inspection only

Ran an off road H-pipe on my fox GT a few years back-smell became unbearable. Ended up welding hi flo cats in. Much better and I didn’t notice any change in performance.

When I changed to a BBK x-pipe on my S197, I made sure to get the catted one.

When my headers got installed they added a catless X, I would have preferred an H but since it was a trade deal I didn’t make a fuss. Car still passes OBD inspection and I’ve only noticed the rich smell a couple of times and almost always I find a bolt loose at the header flange.

Irrelavent, but environmentally concientious. ;)
No clue what your laws are as far as emissions and testing. The EPA will never come to you. lol

In the EU, it's an instant vehicle inspection fail if a car that came with factory cats is rendered catless. The inspection includes a tailpipe sniffer test for HC and CO.

Inevitably you'll get a CEL with downstream O2 sensor codes but there are ways to remedy that. You can either have those sensors disabled in the tune (the EPA won't like that and a US based tuner would face a heavy fine), install MIL eliminators, or add O2 sensor spacers to position the downstream O2 sensors out of the exhaust gas stream.
The problem is that, in addition to turning off rear O2 sensors in the tune, the MIL eliminators as well as the O2 sensor spacers are also illegal as they mechanically manipulate the exhaust sampling O2% to the rear O2 sensors lower than what the front O2 sensors read\measure to "imitate" a good cat's operation concerning O2 storage ability within an exhaust that has no cats present or bad cats that are present....thus is also considered a "defeat device" by the EPA.
This is no different than what the diesel folks did w\ deleting the DPF systems for performance reasons in the eyes of the EPA. The only difference in the real world is that the EPA has focused on the diesel folks 1st due to the obvious visual effects but make no mistake....they'll be narrowing their focus in good time & whether you live in an exempt county or State, the clock is ticking on that.........also in good time.

I haven't typed anything here that most don't already know, notwithstanding that most will admit.....

My 2 cents.........

What a fucking joke! You guys pointing fingers at modified cars and thinking your modified car is golden. The air police don’t want you to change ANYTHING period. They don’t want you to own or drive a gasoline burning Vehicle at all. It may be true the rolling coal idiots “woke” the Green Giant but the war against hydrocarbons has been going on for decades. These same green people are still trying to regulate Cow Farts for crying out loud.

So running a non-CARB CAI and tune is not against EPA emissions regs? My car has always passed smog testing.

It is a grey area that would be overlooked. Now that grey area is shrinking to nothing but black and white. Due to those who wanted to delete emission components. It may end up that factory stock only will pass smog.
A non carb cai is not the same as removed cats. And Im going back to stock airbox anyway, as the CAI does nothing for power.
