Hey All,

2005 Mustang GT 4.6l 3v. I threw the dreaded P0345 And P0349 codes 2 weeks ago. Since then I have done the following and nothing has worked.

Changed alternator 2x
Changed Cam Position Sensor
Changed VCT Solenoid
Changed Cam Phaser(was new 2 years ago, used OEM again)
Swapped cam sensors between banks, problem stayed bank 2.

I am out of ideas at this point and need some help.

Thoughts?

How do your timing chain tensioners work? Maybe one is seized or won't extend. Though you prolly checked that when you changed phasers.

A bad chain tensioner or a broken chain guide would cause a timing chain to rattle, and the sound would be pretty obvious.
Does your engine have a rough idle, misfire, or make any abnormal noises?
If there's a rough idle, try disconnecting the wiring harness to the driver's side VCT solenoid and see if it smooths out. That would at least narrow the problem down to either the VCT solenoid or the phaser.

Also would be nice to know if you have any electrical and/or performance parts on your car. Don't be a "one-n-done" here & bail after free help. Go do a proper intro...

Is the Alternator fuse in the BCM good?

Check the cam sensor connector harness for corrosion or broken wire near connector. Sometimes people back probe the sensor by poking a hole in the wiring at the connector. Wrong thing to do and eventually the copper wires corrodes away.
