SJB Clarification

So I've spent the last few days researching the dreaded water leak and the SJB problems to troubleshoot my mother's 09 GT. The complaints were obviously the passenger water leak, battery drain, radio staying on and some other various issues with electrical and HVAC. Pulled the SJB and there's water/corrosion on the connectors and SJB. What continues to puzzle me is the various searches throughout many forums, I see contradicting posts. This is where I need clarification so I order the right thing. I've seen the coupe to coupe, part numbers must match, has to be reprogrammed, it's plug and play, etc. Her SJB is 9r3t-14b476-bb. When searching, I can find many with different first four digits and then some with last two digits different. Just need to clarify prior to spending the money. Thanks.

Just call a local Ford dealer and give them the last 8 digits of the VIN... They can tell you exactly what part number of SJB fits that car.... Their might be a couple digits different if there have been any revisions for that part.

I can do that, just afraid I'm gonna be told I can only order from them.

So bit the bullet and called my local Ford parts department. He said that as far as the numbers, they've changed the engineer numbers like 19 times. Told me that as long as it's a coupe from 05-09, should be good and it does need reprogramming.

Part numbers over the years for all manufacturers can/will superseded many times over the years. SJB doe need programming to the vehicle.

two weeks after I bought my 05 Coupe, the SJB went out, In the middle of the night, in a snow storm, in nowhere Utah. Every thing quit but the the engine ran and the heater worked. I ordered a new one/not used off ebay. everything worked fine except I had to reprogram the door lock remotes and it did not have the program that works the windows with the door key, which is fine. That was 4 years ago and everything has worked perfect since. I also pulled the boot out of the bottom of the cavity below the wipers and resealed the plastic clips that hold that cover on. No more water problems

SJB programming required is somewhat misleading.
Mine was in "manufacturing mode" when I got my car. Everything worked, but that mode means programming was incomplete. Did I say everything worked?

Note: I believe 05&06 are a bit different than 07&up due to tpms started in 07. Is tpms just disabled in pre 07 cars, I dont know.

05-07 also have a cable that connects to the sjb that is the antenna for the key fobs, 08 and 09 have a metal wire on the outside of the sjb that is the antenna... so they are not all the same as long as they are from the same body (coupe)...
