I'm working on a 2014 V6 that my son and I swaped a 2010 gt engine and trans ect.. I'm using my 2010 pcm so the engine and trans wiring stayed on the engine and trans when we swaped them So the pcm connector that stays on the car i have to swap out that connector.. So my question is how should i wire the plug up? Like the 2014? or like the 2010? As far as wire colors they are almost all the same but a lot or the wireing are on differnt pins? Any help would be great and I'm don't mind paying someone for there time.. Also if you are near Charlotte NC i can bring it to you if need to be..Thanks!!

You need both diagrams and must match each idividual circuit. No easy way to do it.
Connot go by wire color.

yea agree with said above,,, its gonna be a nightmare,, and prolly 40+hours of head scratching ..
you would have to wire it up so the body harness match and some other things, im sure some wires wont be used crossing the years,, just trying to rewire my 06 to work with my 09 was too much of a pain. so i just stayed on the 09 platform ,,

Same power level, but the v8 sounds way better than any 6.

Hey guys I know it dosn't make since.. The v6 was shot the owner ran it hot so my son bought a wrecked 2010 gt.. I told him he could have the 2014 I didn't know that it was this much to the build.. The 4.6 only has 45k on the engine We already switched everything over. Like i was saying before my problem is geting the car wired up.. My son is young he 19 now I would like to get it up and running that away he can use it to learn from start progaming it and learn how everything works together again just so he can build lnowledge.. Btw Im already looking for a 2013 and newer 5.0 since I started working on this car I have learnd so much about mustangs I was a chevy guy but now I'm about a Ford guy!! LOL!! But Serious guys if someone could help me Please I would definitely appreciate it deeply!! Also I dont mind paying you for your time and knowledge.. Thanks!!

i dont think its really been done due to the wiring mess and who really trades a V8 for a v6?

that said, i think you may have bitten off more than you can chew on this one without knowing what you are getting into,,
i was gonna do a 5.0 swap in my s197,, than i relized the harness nightmare among other things,,
so i opted to do a 4.6 F\I ..(path of least resisance ,, )

the only way you can make this work without 3 yrs of wiring problems is this,,,,
strip the car ,, and swap all the harnesses over ,,pcm and body harness and all,,

and even than the switches wont be right on the doors so you will eaither have to rewire them (not hard)or go without power windows ect ect...

and some things like the steering wheel will need to be addressed , again not hard..

you said you wanted youre son to learn the ins and outs of cars,, well here you go lol

i know its not what you wanted to hear but im giving you a way to make this rabbit hole work

Since we’re on the topic of the coyote, a swap would be easiest. It has its own control pack and is independent of the chassis wiring harness, for the most part. Not the cheapest route but may be the easiest other than swapping in another v6.

if he has emissions to worrie about ,, the control pack is a no go ,, hence why i couldnt go that route

Its not that bad to wire it up IMO, for someone who has worked on cars. As a learning experience? This is a huge undertaking, but not impossible.
Ps: coyote swap would be practically plug &play as the coyote was an option for the 14. A wrecked 14 gt is what would be ideal.
Pps: the control pack does have all the obd stuff and can be enabled. But I dont know how that strategy would be ID'd by the emissions OBD scan.
I didnt see where you are from.

Check your state laws too. I believe in my state when you do an engine swap it must be from the same model year or newer. But that is a smog related requirement and you might not need compliance where your at.

Correct.
But it is likely body year emission standard you have to meet. That way you dont go slapping some old carb'd engine into your s197 or any other project.
Newer engine into older chassis, no problem. You are making the car cleaner if all smog shit is installed.
As far as I know, we had no change in the obd standards for some time. Smog stuff in place, all monitors enabled and complete, VIN in pcm 'should' pass.

Why not? The ecu is the same as a production ecu but has some monitors/equipment turned off.

if we are talking aboiut a 5.0 control pack passing smog it wont and cannot,, period
The only issue I have is the O2 monitors are stubborn to complete. An issue that exists in bone stock vehicles, even non-mustang. I have both, stock strategy and control pack strategy and both behave exactly the same. Those monitors just sit there 'incomplete', no codes or CEL If you look at a Forscan scan, the PCM actually has two components. PCM and OBD, and codes are reported separately from each.
I even have cruise control with the control pack.
Forscan ID's the control pack as Crate_6 strat, 50 state emission. Too bad Im exempt for miles driven, so I dont know if it would actually pass if the O2 monitors would complete. They did, twice since the build.
