Hello, the backlight of the two radio buttons (mute and AM/FM) is dead. Has anyone had a similar problem to repair, maybe?

Yep, on my '06 Chevy Colorado most of them started failing...as vehicle aged. Usually there are caps/covers that pop-off and/or separate to reveal small bulbs underneath. Some bulbs plug-in & others solder. If you don't know what you're doing, you can f--k things up so search for videos (how to), or get help.

You would probably have to send that radio out to be repaired. You could buy a used one off eBay. May cost less money and be less hassle. Or you could live with it. Or upgrade to a better stereo.

This is correct. The repairs are not handled in house any longer. Unit is sent for repair or replacement.

That front piece is not the radio. The whole works amounts to 3 separate components. The part (front) with all the buttons comes out quite easily. Just gently pry up the top of the console starting from the console storage compartment. Once you get that off you will see 2 screws that hold the front piece on. Once you pry that off it's all one piece. And the screen and head unit are behind the front and are separately anchored into the dash. You should be able to find a replacement front panel easily. There is a website, https://car-part.com that allows you to search every salvage yard in North America. If you live in the US it's awesome for you but if you live in Canada, most of the US junkyards won't send to Canada for some reason. Anyway that whole panel is easy to get out and replace. There are lots of YouTube videos on how to work in that area.

Yup, I’ve had panel off before too. Not difficult at all. Once removed you can separate the plastic front panel. I had mine apart to hydro dip that panel and didn’t pay too much attention to the electronics, but I wonder if there are replaceable bulbs/LEDs there?
