Hello again,

Is there anyone that can point me to a detailed video on how to take out the intake manifold for the 2006 V6 4.0?

Also is it harmful to the plastic if this is painted?

Thanks

You could try searching that on YouTube. If you don’t have any luck look up X charger install Ford mustang on YouTube. There should be several videos of people removing the stock intake to replace it with the X charger manifold that should be helpful.

Thanks for your reply, I asked here because I could not find online, I went in as you said to check for X charger replacement, but so far there is no detailed video showing the whole process. Its either a video filmed from far that does not show it in detail or else it shows you the person just pulling off the intake.

I will keep looking.

I have the Xcharger installation manual somewhere but can't find it right now. I will post it if I find it later.

You might check this Facebook page:

Lots of guys on there who have worked on the 4.0 and installed the Xcharger.

The 2006 4.0L V6 intake manifold is plastic??? I never even envisioned such a thing...

I think I made a horrible mistake...I should have bought my 2006 with the V8...

From what I see it is plastic, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

The v8 intakes are plastic also. Not hard if you have basic mechanical skills. Hardest part is looking for and buying the special tool to remove the fuel line. You can do 80% of the rest with a 10mm socket and cordless screw gun.

what is so difficult with the fuel line? what's the tool needed?

Does it have a gasket and if yes how high is the chance of damaging it while removing or re-fitting?

I'm asking all this to see how practical it is to take it out and spray it, or try to create a cover

Never taken off a v6 manifold but my v8 manifold is just some 5 inch or so bolts along the intake runners, disconnect the iirc connector in the back and probably some vacuum lines and that’s it.
Do NOT over torque the bolts when you reinstall them, the threads are aluminum and you will break a bolt or rip the threads out by accident.

Just go to Auto Zone or Orielly's, they have the fuel line release tool you can borrow. Just put down a deposit. It is not that expensive and you will need it if you ever change your fuel filter

on my 06 v6 , i think my bolts for the maifold were torx ,, i dont remember the size torx, but a torx none the less, make sure you have new intake gaskets , and a new tb gasket wouldnt hurt as well , be sure to use air to spay and clean the engine in and around the manifold before removing, to save from something getting in the engine that shouldnt and do harm,, it took me about 30 min to clean and have it removed , and as said above, get a fuel line disconnect,, harbor freight has a set i got that was $3 and still use them today,,

My problem is that I live in Europe, to be specific on a tiny Island, so all these shops and options you mention might not be available for me to find. But thanks.

Which tiny island do you live on? I live in Cyprus which is also tiny, but just big enough to have highways where I can stretch Scarlett's legs. I have no problem ordering parts plus other items from the US, and shipping is fast too. Just order a fuel line disconnect tool from either Summit Racing or CJ Pony Parts. The same tool comes with different size fittings so it can also be used to disconnect AC lines, making it pretty handy.
Since shipping costs are high compared to the cost of parts if you buy only one or two at a time, I tend to buy multiple items (especially service parts) and keep those that I don't need immediately in my spare parts box in anticipation for future use.

I live in Malta, which is much smaller that Cyprus, only 17 miles long.

Do you have any suppliers in Europe or you only get things from the US? American Muscle does not ship internationally and CJ Pony's shipping rates are astronomical, Summit Racing I never tried.

I always try to place an order large enough, but every time I tried from CJ, the costs were too high, almost t
3 times as much as the part itself. I tried looking for other companies, but they either do not ship or the shipping cost is also high.

I also buy stock replacement parts from https://www.rockauto.com/
Keep in mind that heavier items cost more to ship. Your illustration shows the GT500 front control arms and a pair of those weigh a hefty 14kg (31lb).
I had my stock front control arms refurbished last year with Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings and Moog ball joints that I'd bought from Summit Racing (together with a few other bits), thereby making a substantial cost saving.
