2005 GT.....I have Shaker 500 head unit, but no door subs, My door panels are smooth with just some perforations for a "normal" speaker. Head unit appears to be original to the car.

Just curious......This is a deluxe GT, cloth seats etc.

Deluxe GT had leather interior, door inserts and the door subs.

I understand the Deluxe status. I was curious about a Shaker500 with no door subs. I assume its still a Shaker500, just no subs. Or maybe someone put in a Shaker500 head unit.

Deluxe would have the cloth seats, no door subs, and a regular radio not 500. Someone probably swapped in a Shaker 500 sometime. You can add the door subs and amps in the kick panels

This. The door subs are part of what made it a 500 watt system (hence Shaker 500). The PO probably swapped out the head unit. I suppose they could've swapped the door panels instead to get rid of the subs (not sure why they would) , but you could double check by looking up under the dash in the driver's side footwell. You would see the amps (Small pair of metal boxes) mounted to the driver's side wall.

Ok, thank you for the replies. I kind of like the smooth door panels. I will check for the amps.

Shaker 500 will have the 2 8's in the lower doors and the shaker 1000 adds 2 10's in the trunk. If it doesn't have the subs in the doors its not a shaker system.
