As the title suggests trying to find the best tire setup. Currently I have a 305 rear setup on my supercharged 06 and am looking for better options. My car is in the mid 450 territory on the daily driven tune.

welcome, please review the tech posting rules, your thread has been move.

as to the question - what size wheel are you using, manual or automatic, rear gears?

also this topic has been :deadhorse: so you may want to search this sub-form.

When I upgraded to 19" wheels (and the OEM Pirelli P-Zero Nero's wore out), while searching around online I found Ohtsu FP8000 summer tires. They are made by Sumitomo, I've been running them for I think 4 years now? Very happy with them, they have excellent grip even in the wet and ride pretty decent for a Z rated tire. I barely put any miles on my car anymore so I can't speak for wear but they have a good wear rating.

What are you running for spacers/wheel studs/lugs?

I only have 400 at the wheels, and the car is a daily. I have run several tire brands. One thing I learned, tires do lose grip even if there is plenty of tread left. NT555's a perfect example. Street use only, and they have 'gone away' to the point of scary.
Cold weather definitely has an impact on traction.

I am amazed at how well the Cooper RS3-As work. Probably cannot get 305s though. From dry traction to 6 inches of snow, they just work. (stock 17 inch GT size, no abs or traction control) No, they are not going to give you the best 60' times lol. I don't drag race.

It sounds like you want to go with a DOT drag radial. For more of street tire, look at the treadwear numbers. Tires in the 200 range are a nice compromise between tire life vs traction. I had several Falken Azenis 615's, and was going to try the 660s, but they are on backorder. I would have used those on track (hpde).

I’m running the BF Goodrich G-Force Comp 2 summer tires. Good grip down to about 50-45F where grip starts getting a little sketchy. Good steering feel and great mileage for an ultra high performance summer tire. I’ve got 30K on them and they’re only about 3/4 worn. Road noise has increased somewhat as they’ve worn. I like them better than the OEM Pirellis which seemed to break loose too easy.

How wide are the rims on your rear 305's ? Are they 17-18-19-20" diam ?
What rear tire are you currently using.

I'm running a 7mm spacer and ET style lugs, to clear the Brembos, and that is only because I have S550 wheels and they have a weird offset. Stock lugs.

on my 06 with 500 at the wheels I put on the Nitto Exreme Drag 555r 285/40R18 on the rear.
I dont expect many miles out of them as 90% of the driving is hard, and a 100 treadwear rating, and come with much less tread that most, but they hook!
Been in a little rain, but drove careful and had no issues.

I second the Cooper RS3. I'm running 305/18 on 18x11 Shelby wheels. No spacer needed to clear big Shelby/Wilwood 6 piston calipers. I love them for a street tire. Great ride, low noise, decent hook. When I was at 425 whp they could hold 2nd gear perfectly. Just enough spin to get back into boost quickly. Now that I've turned up the boost, I think they are going to get loose in 2nd. But it was 40 degrees outside when I last hammered on them. I hope the new version of the tire is as good or better.
Anytime I go hunting for some action, I put the Hoosier drag radials on.

Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 are excellent for street use, I'm running about 480 rwhp in 07 gt w/ Whipple, 5 spd, 20" fr500 wheels. Very good hookup after a satisfying spin, great grip on turns, very confidence-building. The tread pattern is the same as the old RE-71R, long revered by Auto-crossers. Decent wear, great looking tire. I think they are very affordable but haven't price-shopped them against other uhp Street tires.

I’ve been very happy with the continental extremes. This size comes out to around 11 inches wide.

You mean ET studs? What size? Would like to get an extended stud but not sure what size would work. Basic measurements say around 12 - 15mm over stock.

Goodyear eagle F1 asymmetric 3s 255/40 R19 on all four corners. Pretty good tire , gets decent grip and doesn’t get too squirrelly in moderate rain.

Watch out. Front studs are always a bit longer than rear studs. Steeda sells longer studs in 2.5" lengths..and also 3.0" lengths. In both cases, the front studs are a bit longer than rear studs.

I use OEM studs both front and back....and the same deal, front studs are longer than the rear studs. I use Bullitt wheels, deep dish types...and oem brakes. Front wheels are 18 x 10, with a 45mm ET. I had to use 3mm spacers on the fronts. That still left loads of thread left. On the rears, I use 19 x 10 wheels with a 48mm ET..and NO spacer. ( before that, for the rears, I used 18 x 10 wheels with a 45mm ET..and no spacer). The fronts WITH the 3mm spacer have MORE thread left vs the rears with NO spacer used.

I'm running original 2007 GT500 wheels/tires on my stock '08 GT. They are 18's 255 Fronts and 285 Rears, F1 Goodyear. Plastidip'd them black.

Thanks for the info. Currently running stock 9x19 Brembo rims (to clear the front calipers) but also have a set of S550 19x8.5 (same as Ghunt) that I've been using 12mm spacers on and an extended design lug (the bottom of the lug narrows for about 10mm to grab more threads). I'd like to go back to OEM lugs but it looks like I'll need another 10-12mm of stud to make it safe (hence the need for an extended stud). No clearance issues on the rear. Would just like to be able to use the S550 wheels for the off season since they have all season tires.

I too use Continental Extreme Contact DWS on my O5 GT Stang and also on out Jag XKR. Excellent traction and wear! Only Z rated tire with a 50k tread wear warranty that I know of.ECAB2956-3422-44CA-BBAD-5DB2D891843E.jpeg
