It's probably done a lot of miles cruising on the highway at around 2000rpm so the engine (and the rest of the car) would have been minimally stressed. As long as the engine oil/filter are changed at the recommended intervals, and the engine isn't frequently thrashed to within an inch of its life, 300k miles on the original internals is possible.
You might see a little weepage from the valve cover gaskets, oil filter adapter gasket, and the oil pan gasket but that's as much due to age rather than mileage. They're easy enough to replace though.
Apart from the original two-piece spark plugs on engines built up to the end of November 2007, the 3V engine is robust and durable with no major design flaws. It only gets a bad rap because it's been eclipsed power wise by the Coyote.

The secrets to engine life are:
Change oil regularly. Dont overheat it. And last: leave it stock and just drive it.
At the rate my '05 has accumulated miles, it will hit 300000 in 2085 when I'm 106 years old.
I'm gonna do the first two but continue having fun feeding it boost. If that means it only makes it to the 2050s, I'll be OK with that.:driver:

i thought the timing chain guides failed , or at least a roller follower would have gone out for sure?

My 2008 GT is now at 213k... bought it with 209k in summer 2019. It's no longer a daily driver so 300k won't be happening any time soon. The engine however is original; I changed the auxiliary drive belt and rollers, and changed all the fluids. Does not loose a single drop of oil, and still has plenty of power even to get it up to 150mph on the German Autobahn. Mind you, it had a gearbox swap at 80k so it's no surprise that the current one is making ugly noise. Replacement parts for that is hard and expensive to come by over here...

250K on two 5.4 F 150 on no wrench on either engine. The Triton is a very durable engine!
