I hope I'm posting in the right place and not asking a dumb question and or already been answered. But how do I remove fender liners on my 2014 gt? The clips I saw I've need seen before I don't want to possibly damage them and not able to get new.clips/pins to hold liner in TIA!

I just took a quick look at my '14 GT and the pins I saw were the type with a plastic screw in the center instead of a push pin. It was cold in the garage so it was a pretty quick look. There might be other types of fasteners used as well. They pretty much work the same, remove the center pin or screw and use something like a tack puller to remove the body. Fasteners like this are readily available at most parts stores. NAPA usually has a good selection. Given how many push pins are used on cars today a push pin pliers is a good addition to you tool box.

I was looking at passenger side I was trying to replace the washer fluid hose. I've never saw these style clips before they aren't type that center pops out to remove them they look like the tie straps they use to attach fans to radiator with ends cut off. I couldn't get a tool behind them and I hate break the clips and possibly not find any in a store. I don't want to ride around with liner out.

Possibly arent the factory fit clips? maybe somebody replaced them before. Try the link at the bottom to see if you spot yours, but I would bet the all models of the S197 probably have the same clip size diameter holes in the chassis unless there have larger Diameter heads on the 2014. I can measure hole diameter in mine if you want as they are off ATM for undersealing.

Looking at it closer looks like the head on the clips are broken off or am I wrong? But they're so tight can't get panel/clip removal tool behind them and I'm scared of breaking them and not able to get them at parts store don't want to drive with fender liner.

I attached a picture of the clips I don't know if the heads of clips are off for some reason or if someone used different style clip but I've never saw them before. I've saw all the clips in the link you sent and experienced all of them through the years but never saw ones used on the liner on my car.

You might try using a pair of side cutters to see if you can grab the sides the pull the center post out. I have similar clips in one of my parts bins where the center of the clip pulls out to remove it. If not, you'll probably have to break it to get it out.

This is a simple removal. The center post lip edge is actually the darkest circle. You can slip a thin flat blade screwdriver in here to get it started to pop up. Once you have it raised high enough it'll release the expending fingers of the outer body and allow room for them to compress and slip the whole thing out.

Similar to removing a nail from a drywall anchor, allowing you to pull the anchor out.

Edit: upon closer examination that may be the Phillips screw head type that almost looks like somebody tried to drill out. Should be plain to see which one (pop or screw) it is, go look at the liner on the other side to confirm. I'm too lazy to run down to the garage and do it for you.

Standard enough looking clips and nearly same style as mine, looks like somebody has already broke the head of this one or they are the pin type ones that you push the pin inwards to release the clip. Grab the nib with a set of pliers and pull it out if you can or drive it inwards to get one clip off but naturally wait till you have the new clips before you remove the whole inner splash guard. With one removed you can order the right type if they aren't good to go again. cant see you going wrong with any splash guard clips from 05-14 years. If the pin you get out is plastic threaded then they probably should originally have a Philips screw head

I'll try that if it warms up and dries up.

I just had my fender liner out this weekend. A few retainers were stuck/stripped so I just drilled them out with a 3/16 bit. They're available from Autozone/O'Reilly at a ridiculous price, something like a pkg of 3 for $7. You can get a bag of 50 on Amazon for the same price.

That's what worries me about possibly breaking clips

I believe those fasteners are plastic pop-rivets, one time use which sucks. You might can verify this by pushing the center pin back into the fastener if you can. If not, cut it off flush and use a drill bit the same size+/- and drill it out. Panel clip pliers (Harbor Freight $8.99) can come in handy for some of these fasteners and especially chritmas tree type fasteners. Like others have mentioned, check amazon and ebay for an assortment of the larger pushpin type fasteners for replacements. They will come in handy and much cheaper than your local auto parts.
