Time for new tires for a 305/30R19 19x11 square setup. I now have Rival S 1.5s that I need to replace. I've been pretty happy with the Rivals but have been hearing a lot of good things about the Falken RT660s.

Car has full Whiteline rear suspension and Vorshlag MCS TT1 coilover camber plate package with 550lb front and 250lb rear springs, Hotchkiss 38.1mm hollow front and 25.4mm hollow rear adjustable sway bars. Stock front control arms and bushings. Have about 2.75* neg camber and 1/8" toe out up front.

Not a daily driver but is driven to and from events (about 40 events and approx 1500-2000 street miles a year). Temperatures are hot here in the summer and I run mostly on a mix of grippy concrete runway and well worn asphalt surfaces. I prefer not to have to spray tires which I have never needed to do with the Rivals.

Anyone have experience with the RT660 and can compare to the Rival S 1.5 on their Mustangs?

I haven't run the RT-660 yet but... a lot of people I trust have and the Falken is supposed to heat up faster and might be a hair quicker. I'd keep a tire sprayer handy, just in case.

Might need closer to -3 deg front camber, and front toe out will murder the tires on the street, but the rest sounds good! Front toe out works to help turn-in for autocross but should really only be done on trailered cars, or if you are setting/resetting toe at the track.

Cheers,

Terry, I'm about sold on the RT660's for my next set of tires. I can always bump the neg camber up a bit to -3* if needed but I have always ran about -0.250* total toe out which I think works out to about 1/8" on a 26" tire and have not noticed any significant wear from the limited street miles I do back and forth to events.

Thanks for the input. Just fyi, I really like the MCS TT1 shock/spring and camber plate package I got from you. Thanks also for suggesting I try the Whiteline upper rear control arm - it is night and day better than the noisy and binding Steeda crap that I had on before and that I hated.

Duh! I just noticed that Falken has a 315/30r19 available. Decision time. I think I would need to relocate the rear bump stop bracket and run at least -3* camber to get the front tires to tuck under the fender well. I have 19x11 ET50 wheels and I think I might need to run more spacer on the fronts (go from a 20mm to 25mm maybe). Anything else I need to consider in order to fit this much tire under both ends of a S197 Mustang?

I haven't run the 660 but did mount a 315 to check for clearance issues as the 660 runs a little wider than the 315 Rival 1.5. My setup is MCS, coilovers, forgestar 18x11 wheels from Vorshlag, 2.75 neg camber with a 3mm spacer with stock hubs / studs.

The 660 cleared but it was really close to the strut. I got 5mm spacers and I think that'll work fine and the studs are fully engaged on the lug nuts. Once the Rivals are gone, I'll buy the 660s.

Sounds good - if it works, keep doing it! :)

Yea I love this arm, we even use it on full race cars.

Just wish they had built this one about 10 years sooner! ;)

Hmm, not sure you will need to do this bumpstop relocation kit.

We did it on our 2011 GT when we ran an 18x12" wheel that we tucked inboard a lot, and your setup might not need it. It is the wheel barrel that can touch this piece at full droop (on a lift)...

If it isn't rubbing now it won't with the wider 315mm tires... it was the wheel barrel that touched, not the tire.

Cheers!
