So I have a GT500 Hood replica from Trufiber and the base plate that is responsible for holding my hood pins are pretty much falling off of the hood. The screws responsible for holding down the base have rounded out the fiberglass to the point where it no longer holds the base to the hood anymore.

So question is does anyone know what kind of hardware these little metal thread inserts are called much like whats found on the Ford performance intake? The idea I had was to glue similar inserts into the hood instead of filling with fiberglass resin and having to redrill it in. It's a more permanent solution. Thanks!

Threaded grommet or threaded insert. There are various based on how they are mated to the surface they are being used on.

When they're embedded in the material at the factory, they're PEM fasteners. You won't be able to duplicate that exactly but you can come close by using Nutserts or RivNuts. Where in Texas are you? I have the parts and the tools to install them in New Braunfels.

I appreciate the responses I knew they were along the lines of "thread inserts" or some crap but I couldnt quite find what I was looking for for a hood like this. Ill look around after what y'all gave me and see what would best work for me.

OK. You'll need to buy the tool to go with it. These will work in aluminum and steel.

However, if the material is plastic or fiberglass, then I like Midlife Crises suggestion. Go to the hardware store and buy some T-nuts, the smooth type without the prongs. You can bond them in place with JB-Weld.
