My shifter (2006 GT 5-speed) disintegrated in my hand yesterday - of all things to break!
I super-glued it back together for the short run.
Shopping ebay for a new one, I see aftermarket ones for $15 with free shipping, and I see OEM for $60 and up. That's a big difference!
I want to stay OEM, but wonder if the premium price is as ridiculous as it seems.
I'd consider a "Q-ball type", called a GT500 (with the stripes), but that's a departure from the way it came from the factory.
Any opinions on OEM or style appreciated!
Any better source then ebay?

I swapped my factory one to a generic silver one off American Muscle for like $30, it’s now on my Hurst using an adapter because it matches the color of the dash.

Pretty confident I have my original like the one you’re looking for laying around somewhere..

Hello, Forty61 & Bad GT. Thanks for the offer(s). I'd prefer the factory new one, so please contact me. I'm going to have to search to figure out how to contact you. Thanks,
Rich

I posted this on the IMBOC forum roughly 1.5 years ago. I wouldShifter Balls.JPG consider letting go some or all of these pictured above:

When my "Chalmers" (DHG5430) was new, I suspected that limited production would mean original replacement parts would become scarce earlier rather than later, so I purchased the ball on the left under Part# 8R3Z-7213-DB for around $136. By the way, made in the UK for Ford.

About a year ago, this part was "no longer available" at every FoMoCo dealer website I checked so I jumped on American Muscle's (about $37) since their ad photo matched the original part. As you can see, the shift pattern numbers & letters are acceptable but the satin finish is not OEM. To add insult to injury, the black plastic riser adaptor is also unsatisfactory if you're desiring OEM quality and finish.

Fast forward to last week when I received the ball on the right (about $69) from a supplier on E-bay. The shift pattern numbers & letters are maybe several microns wider than OEM, but everything else is an exact match. I'm satisfied !

I bought this from American Muscle
Modern Billet Retro Style 5-Speed Shift Knob.JPG
because the stock knob was so cold in the winter. It looks stock; it looks good. I haven't had any problems with it, and it's cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.
