Just got an '08 GT for my son and when replacing coil packs and plugs noticed the bracket for cylinder 2 on the valve cover split, like someone over-torqued the bolt. The crack goes about 1/3 of the way down the threading and the oem bolt doesn't go far enough to catch.

It looks like I have two "simple" options; one is to get a longer M5 bolt and try to catch enough of the remaining threads and hope it doesn't split further, and the other is to put a thinner bolt through and nut it on the other end of the bracket (looks like there's plenty of space.

Appreciate any thoughts or past experiences with this kind of crap.

We also have a stripped bolt head on cylinder 8's coil pack but I'm going to try using an extractor to get it out. Just hoping this isn't the type of thing that cracked the other cop's mounting bracket to begin with?

Some close-up pics of these areas would really help...visual is great, when determining a recommendation.

Thanks for the response, I tried using a longer M5 bolt to catch some thread deeper in, and it ended up going through the threaded bracket due to the crack(s). I ended up just put a wingnut on the end of the bolt. It has such a light torque spec that it should hold fine.
