Has anyone swapped out 2010 door mirrors for 2013-2014 OEM optional puddle light mirrors?

This question might have been asked already but I tried a couple of searches and came up empty (perhaps I did not use the correct keywords). If this question has already been asked, please direct me to that thread.

I have successfully removed the standard mirrors from my 2014 Mustang and installed the puddle light mirrors that were optional on the 2014 Mustang. That was more than 2 years ago, and they still look great. Very easy swap. I may be purchasing a 2010 Mustang and am wondering if I can swap the standard mirrors for a pair of 2014 puddle light mirrors. Thanks in advance.

You can. But you may need to hog out the bolt holes to get them to fit. There's a couple that are slightly different (about 1/4") if I remember correctly regarding how they fit into the mounting. Easy to do. Close, but not a direct fit.

Thanks very much for your reply. And the wiring already exists in the 2010 to plug in the connector on the 2014 mirror to provide power to the puddle lamp?

You need to check the connector type. There's an early version that will fit our cars. The later version will not. Remove your mirror to look at it and it'll become obvious. That said, I believe all of the puddle light versions were later. If you still want to use it you probably can but that could mean you end up doing something custom in order to run those lighting circuits (only come on when the car is unlocked/locked or door opened. They can be found in the cabling that run by the doors; don't remember exactly which wires; likely somewhere on the forum). You can extend them like I did by running them thru the door harnesses into the doors (I did a version of my own door lights that light up when you unlock the car/open a door and then go out automatically after ~10-15 seconds). It's not an easy job mind you but can be done. Still, major hassle but necessary to wire those puddle lights if that's the direction you're headed.

No there is no wiring for puddle lamps before they were made an option in 2013. The mirrors themselves should be the same on a 2010 though.

I just put on 2014 mirrors on my 06. Swapped the connectors and ran wires for the puddle lamps and heated mirrors. Yes you'll have to drill new holes in the car for the mirror to fit and getting the wires through the door can be a PITA. Good luck!
