Recommendations for cheaper tires?

As a side note, as I have run 16',17',18'&19' wheels/tires.

From a ride quality/feel for the car, I like, 18's w275/40 tires. I really like the feel of 17's, just a tic smaller in diameter.
I do not like the way the 19's feel with 285/35s. Just feels less responsive.
Current street tires, 245/45/17s, and 275/40/17 for track.
19s may look the best, filling out the wheel arches.
I know I will not be trying any 20s.

I bought Lionhart LH-5 and they have been very good in dry conditions! Wet road is fine as long as you don't lay on the throttle at take off otherwise you may spin. I bought them from American Muscle and with over 3000 miles on em, I'm VERY happy.

I'm going to go ahead and take that as this is not a thread jack.

Regarding the "don't get cheap on tires" philosophy, you really have to look hard to find "cheap" tires, they all seem to be varying degrees of expensive.

When buying for mine, I went with Michelin Pilot Super Sports, because I felt that the Cup 2s would be throwing away money only commuting to work. I wish I had gone with a cheaper tire, but I wanted them, and the country of origin was United States.

For my wife's '14, we went with the Firestone Firehawk AS, again because of country of origin and price point. I originally wanted to get the Indy 500s, but, the country of origin was other than United States, and I didn't feel she really needed Indys to drive to the store and the mall.

Reading through the Corner Carver section, there were recommended examples of, let's say, slightly more economical tires, from Hankook, Continental, etc.

A quick search on tirerack.com, for the sizes in the OP, there are Michelin, Firestone, BFG, Cooper, Pirelli, Yokohama, General, Toyo, and Goodyear. The cheapest is the Cooper Zeon RS3-G1 at $227.99. The most expensive is the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R at $527.81, not including the Pirelli Winter Sottozero at $723.79, because it is a dedicated winter tire. Surprising costs there - Discount tire might be a better option... Just bought a set of Pirelli's for ~$210 ea. Maybe we're pricing different tires but for my size (255/45/19) Michelin Pilots run $232 - 370/ea. Pirelli Winter Sottozero's avg $348 - 353/ea. Didn't see the Cup 2 R's for comparison. Avg appears to be ~$215 - 330/ea.

I have tried tires from eBay. Ended up sending them back. Severely out-of-round. Learned my lesson.

The gear you are running will also determine a lot as well as the make and model. An MT 82 in an 11+ has a different ratio range than a Tremec 3650. Diff gear also matters. Details young stud, details. What suspension mods have you made? 404RWHP is a mild setup on any Coyote 11+ GT. Either way, if you don't make suspension mods to accommodate power improvements you can't expect the tire to perform to its full potential.

Without more info all people can do is guess or tell you the common sense wisdom already provided.
No major suspension mods so far, only lowered about an inch on Ford racing springs

What year is the car ? Manual or auto ? Is the suspension stock ? The 10-14 cars come with wheel hop, right out of the box.
On the 05-14 cars, if lowered, LCA relocate brackets are typ used, so the LCA's are lower at axle end a bit.

20" rear tires in 305-35-20 will be aprx 28.4" tall. That's a full 1" bigger diam vs my 305-35-19's. IF you are on a stock oem rear suspension, with the proposed 305-35-20 tires, your tire radius has increased by 1/2" . This will lift your rear axle 1/2" higher off the ground...which will make the rear LCA's 1/2" higher at axle end... = enhanced wheel hop / less rear traction.

How many psi do you have in the rears ?

As an update, I decided to go with the Indy 500s which I got for 300 each as the Atturo az850 were out of stock everywhere in 305/35r20. I recognize everyone saying not to cheap out on tires which I agree with but im a college student who isn't able to spend the 1000$ on the mpss or 4s that I rly want. So I'm going to try them out and see how they do. Thanks to everyone who replied sorry I didn't respond earlier, I wasn't getting notified for them so I just assumed this post died instantly.

I don't think you are going to do much better than the street comps. I mean you can go to a more traditional drag radial but then you would lose whatever wet weather traction you may have. I think it more has to do with driver mod as opposed to a tire mod. Know the limits and stay within those. I have like 460 ftlbs of torque at about 3000 rpms. Even with my Hoosier QTPs on there I can spin them pretty easily if you just mash the pedal. Learn how hard you can roll on the throttle without losing traction and this will make you quicker.
I've had decent experience driving rwd cars and rolling onto the throttle, it's just in 2nd rolling onto the throttle no matter how slow I do it once I pass 5k rpm I can feel it start to loosen up and if I continue to go on throttle I will eventually fishtail. I always let off before that point tho except when first finding out on wide roads to test it out on.

Maybe you need to upgrade your rear end or suspension. If it is stepping out that bad in a straight line we are either not getting even power to the wheels or the suspension is allowing one wheel to unload. I mean I can get the car to step out but if I lose traction in a straight line my car usually still tracks fine.

Yeah I'm thinking of upgrading the upper and lower control arms if necessary but I want to see how much these tires help first. Only suspension mods I have are Ford racing springs and koni adjustable shocks that are set to fairly stiff rn, forgot to mention the shocks in other replies about what suspension mods I had. I have no problem with the car stepping out because thats expected and I can control that, I've just had a scary experience with the car fishtailing out of nowhere climbing rpm in 2nd gear, which usually I can feel when the car is going to start stepping out. Gonna just test out these new tires after I break em in and see

My stock coyote will pretty much do what you are describing in 2nd.
Last track day in the rain, I was spinning in 3rd accelerating after corner exit.

I have a little vert I drive around and she has a turbo and tune, she is kinda squirrely to drive when you start spooling her up. It's totally different than my mustang. My mustang will break them loose and then as I gain speed they will grab. My little vert will power through a turn and then all of a sudden she will overpower the rears and the fun begins. I actually leave the traction control on in this car and my mustang has it turned off. Point being, every car, powertrain, tire combo is going to behave differently and will need different driver adjustments.

I agree, I had a upgraded turbo Genesis coupe before my stang that would do the same as the turbo spooled up. Much different from the NA experience but also not as much power overall. I've had to respect the instant power of the v8 a lot more and haven't even began to mess with traction control yet, don't really plan on it.

Surprisingly 3rd hooks up for me pretty well though in the rain that would probably be a much different story. I don't even think about messing around in the rain with this kind of power and on my current mt street comps I can slide around just doing a u-turn slowly in the rain

Rain + PD blower don't belong in the same sentence. Stay out of boost, and just baby it.
You should try PD blower + summer tires + surprise 2” of lake effect snow. Took me over an hour to go 3 miles.

Update on the Indy 500s, have had them for about 2 months now and a couple hundred miles. They've been amazing for me and I can hook up any gear at any speed just mashing the pedal. They also have done really well in heavy rain, not sketchy at all like my mt street comps before. Would 100% recommend these tires
