Anybody have any recommendations for the best kit for the money? Thanks!
Terry Fair (Vorshlag) is a vendor here on S197. He builds his, in house. Expensive, but built like a tank. I didn't require the caster adjustment, so went with the steeda version, which allows for only camber.

I installed the Maximum Motorsports caster camber plates a while back to adjust alignment after slightly lowering the car. I have a few thousand miles on them since then, no complaints.

If you're planning on lowering or already lowered you might try spinning the tops of the strut mounts 180. Put mine right at .7 both sides. Cannot guarantee everyone's results will be the same but assuming caster is good might put you in the ballpark without spending hundreds.

My 2006 GT:
1) GT 500 LCA's
2) Roush Springs
3) GT 500 Strut Mounts - orientation 180 - each side points inboard vice out
4) Bilstein B6 Struts/Shocks - only fit GT 500 strut mounts - cannot be used w/GT mounts.

Steve Shaker,

I'm in full agreement with Pentalab and I am a happy Vorshlag customer. The c/c plates are very well designed, construction quality is top-notch, and the customer service is awesome. These plates can be adapted from strut/spring to coilovers so if you plan further suspension mods, these plates will work. Adjustability is easy for camber. Caster is a bit more work (you need to get full access to the top of the strut) so plan ahead. If you track your car or just like to have the adjustability not available in stock form (that's me), then take a good look at Vorshlag and buy with confidence.

Chris

I am also a happy Vorshlag customer. I bought their Street Pro kit. Bilstein shocks and struts, Ford "P" springs and Vorshlag's castor/camber plates. The struts used are for '05-'10 197 series cars. Early struts work fine on '11-'14 cars so long as the early strut mounts are used. They come as a pre assembled package so installation is pretty easy. The castor/camber plates have two sets of bearings. A radial bearing handles left to right movements and a spherical handles all other movements. After a few years of use the radical bearings started to leak at the seals. The radial bearings are user replaceable but, the spherical ones should be sent back to Vorshlag for replacement. I sent the castor/camber plates back to Vorshlag for radial bearing replacement and inspection. Their service was excellent, they turned them around in one day.

And you may like your car with a bit of camber. When I first dropped my car I had 1.8* and 2.25* of camber and I felt the handled a little better. I then clocked my strut mounts and didn't like it as much. I now am currently lowered without any camber adjustment and I like it. Just saying.

Camber bolts are also known as...'crash bolts'. They are just an eccentric bolt that allows for some camber adjustment. It's a cheap and easy way to allow for adjustable camber. Real camber plates, like the steeda unit, and the others, are way more robust..esp if you hit some bumps, railway ties etc. It's bolted down in 4 x places, not just one like camber bolts. Hit a bump at 60 mph with camber bolts, and you could easily have a bad day.

Camber bolts will work in a pinch, but would not be my 1st choice. IMO, if u want camber adj, just do it right the 1st time...and be done with it. I heard way too many horror stories abt folks and their camber bolts. They ended up installing proper camber plates. So now ur doing it...twice.

Don't particularly like the bolts but they are not that bad and cheap. I had a set of plates that fit onto the stock or stock style strut down by the spindle. You had to still elongate the hole on the strut but you had the plates on either side that held the bolt and strut so there was no chance of it shifting like camber bolts. Unfortunately When I went to Bilsteins the bottom of the strut was solid and not stamped so there were no little flanges for the plates to set in so I ditched them. I did the strut mount clocking and brought everything back into spec but it seemed like the mounts didn't like that because I had to replace them a couple of times which I thought was unusual. Anyways I currently have them clocked in the stock position and no camber correction, but I like it that way. My car handles like a pig so anything to get a little extra bite up front on initial turn in makes it feel just a bit better, but that's me.

I use the steeda adjustable camber setup. (camber only). I doubt you will require caster adjustment. The cars already come with loads of caster. Even the Vorshlag caster / camber setups come with the caster pre-set to oem specs...which I think is +7.5 degs.
