I don’t know anything about offsets and the technical stuff but will these AMR rims clear my brake calipers? I’m installing the S550 4 pistons on my 2006 Roush

I'm kinda shocked that AM would confirm clearance for that brake setup. Not saying it won't clear but the S550 caliper requires more wheel clearance when installed on an S197 than it does on the S550.

Better call them back and tell them exactly what you're doing. The only calipers that wheel are going to clear are the original stock ones. If you put S550 calipers on that you're going to need one heck of a spacer and a set of extended lugs on the front wheels to clear them.

Thought I had already responded, but maybe I was sidetracked.

Installing the S550 calipers on an S197 requires S197 GT500 rotors (S550 rotors will not work) and also require a shim/washer between the caliper and spindle to center the calipers over the rotors. This pushes the calipers outward and most likely will require wheel shims…

are the s197 gt500 rotors a 14” rotor?

Yes, they're 14" rotors. You can get the calipers at most any auto parts store or online (order 2007 - 2009 GT500 calipers). Bought mine at O'Reilly's for $125 ea. Caution, it may be a crap shoot whether you get original Brembo's or not. I think the total swap (rotors, calipers, brake pads) cost me around $450 when I did mine. They're a significant improvement over stock and fit most 19" & up and some 18" wheels though you may need to use a spacer depending on the wheel. I found a set of Mustang 19" wheels made for the Brembo brakes and have been running them ever since.

Even grinding the crap off the outside most part of an S550 caliper,

it still sticks out 1/4" more than the S197 Brembos. I could not get them to work with the 18's I had, but did get the S197's to work with my chinese Bullits, using an 8mm spacer (which was thin enough to allow wheel hub to still be concentric with wheel)

And it not just the extra width, the entire caliper is larger in almost every dimension.

These are the ones I ordered…will they work?

You may be able to but will likely require some shims (at the very least) as Oval Sports points out. Since the 4-pot Brembo's were meant for 2007 - 2009 GT500's you normally order components that will fit a 2007 - 2009 GT500 including the rotors/pads. Yes, the 2007 - 2009 components swap seamlessly onto the 2005 - 2010 GT (as long as you use the GT500 setup).

In your case (2006 Roush) I'm at a loss as to why you are trying to adapt later model 4 piston calipers & rotors when the 4 pot Brembo's are still available; will install on your car without any modification and work better for your application.

I’ve been trying to find my post and see how I got confused/mislead. I posted a thread about swapping from 2 piston to the 4 piston calipers….if memory servers I was told I just needed to get S550 calipers/pads, 14” rotor, and shims so that’s what I got.

Yes those will do. 2015+ are different. Taller hats and they’re inverted. S550 rotors don’t work on a S197.

Larger caliper and wider brake pad. Even I’ve thought about it however trying to find wheels that I liked that will work without a spacer was too much of a headache.

Understand what you're trying to achieve. I recommend using the correct components for your application. I've heard/read it can be done but never tried to adapt late model calipers myself but don't recommend it when there are OEM examples that will give you excellent brakes for little money.

That said, I'd personally go with a Brembo setup. And bonus, there are stock wheels that fit the setup without spacers. I'll find the part number for the wheels shortly.

If you choose to go this route; whatever you can send, or take back (like the rotors/brake pads), do it. Next, you need Calipers, 14" Rotors & Pads for a 2007 - 2009 GT500. Looks like you've found the correct 14" rotors but I'd double check to be sure before ordering (see attached). If you order from O'Reilly's (you're ordering replacement calipers/rotors/pads/dust shields; feel free to reuse bolts) just tell them you have a 2008 GT500. That should get you all the right parts. Not sure what the setup costs now. When I bought mine it was about $450 for calipers/rotors/pads and I ordered the dust shields separately.

For the correct part numbers and installation procedures see attached. Good luck.

19"x 9 Brembo Wheels - tires 255/40/19 or 255/45/19 (I use 255/45's). No spacer needed.
