Brake line fittings

Wanting to add line lock put not pay $330 for a kit. I just need the solenoid & brake lines. I’ll have extra braided steel hose from the turbo oil feed setup so just need some info on fittings. The kit comes with 2 lines…I’m trying to figure out what fittings I’ll need to go back into the factory holes? What size are the factory fittings? The hard line has a flared end, do I not need to worry about the flared end if I’m not using hard line? Took these shots but don’t know what size to look for…I’ve seen 3/8, 3/16, and 5/16 I think, gets confusing lol

Turbo oil lines as brake lines? Bad idea. I am certain they are not rated for brake system pressures.

Hmmmm maybe I should add this…I bought -8,-6,-4 braided steel hose E85 rated for my fuel setup. I’ll have extra hose that I planned to use for my oil supply/return on the turbo. Should I not use that hose for short brake line runs?

I would not use anything but brake lines for brakes.
Oil lines maybe rated for 300psi. Brakes run much higher pressures.
$300 seems cheap for brake parts vs a potential brake failure.

From what I’m seeing PTFE braided steel hose is brake line. It has a 2000psi rating. The brake line is usually 3an but I was planning 4n line. I think is going to be cheaper/easier to just buy 2 pieces of hose with ends already on them, then buy 2 fitting adapters for the factory distribution blocks and solenoid.

While the lines themselves may be rated for those pressures, it is the connection between the line and the fittings that is the weak point. That’s why compression fittings are not legal for brake lines. Just buy the kit.

Yeah I stumbled onto the legal/illegal part of it lastnight looking around. If I order the lines with ends already on I think I’m still legal..but still looking. Right now roughly I’m looking at $120ish to just get the parts I need…4 adapter fittings,2 lines, and solenoid

If you do a dual solenoid set up you can use regular aftermarket brake lines made for our cars and not worry about building lines. I plumbed the hard line directly into the solenoid in the wheel well and used braided lines that fit our car. I wish I could remember the size of the fittings as I bought solenoids with them included.




Can't remember where I got the lines from.




But anytime I need hoses I go to a local place called "House of Hose" and they will make me whatever kinds of lines for whatever purpose I need.

I put a line lock on my o8 a few years back. I bought some steel line , I already had the double flare tool ,line cutter, and bending tools then I made my own lines. I bought extra line because it’s fun to make the short line. But,I got it done and it works great. Not magic just patience.

I did my dual solenoid setup on my 09 early last year. I believe I still have the part numbers for all of it. I used adapter fittings at the end of the factory hard line, then braided hose to the solenoid, then braided hose (Jegs has the -3 an brake hose) back to an adapter that connects to the brake hose. It allowed me to put the solenoids back behind the factory splash shields. I then placed an on/off switch inside the center console, along with the micro switch and cord so it could be tucked away when not at the track. On my friends car we mounted the micro switch just to the side of the e-brake handle on the curved down part of the center console.

So the fittings I used are (Jegs part numbers)
PN 100750 x4 the are -3an to 1/8 npt to screw into the solenoids
PN 100769 x2 these are -3an to 10mmx1.0 these thread into the factory brake hose and adapt to the -3an hose from the solenoid
-3an hoses...I used 2 lengths...due to mounting the solenoids up high on the firewall behind the splash shields. I used x2 of a 555-635009 and x2 of a 555-635006.
The other fitting needed I was able to get from summit racing and its a wilwood part number of 220-6413 x2, These thread onto the factory hard line and adapt to the -3an hose
Line lock solenoids were from jegs.... 2 different numbers as one is a kit the other is just a solenoid, as you will be joining the 2 of them together with one activation switch.
part numbers for solenoids are 555-63002 (kit)
and 555-63000 for the single solenoid.
