We’ve (wife) has always named our cars and keeps asking me what name I’m going to give our Mustang. Most of you know Mustang’s are known as a“ Pony car”. The man reason is the Mustang first came out and the Mustang name was selected, it really was patterned after the Mustang fighter plane. But Ford, rightly so, selected the Mustang Pony image as the Icon.

So, Mustang’s are known as the Pony car. The Mustang image is found in a number of areas on the car including in the windshield. So, going back to finding the perfect name for our car and after three years, we’ve come up with a name.

Wife and I love English, Scottish and Irish movies, particularly the old days when everyone is riding in a carriage, cart or plowing a field. To get the pony moving the operator says “Walk on”. Thus, the name of our car.

The S197 is called GITWIKD because my wife’s childhood nickname was “Git” and she calls the car “Wicked”.

So, I prefer to name mine after mythological/fictional horses. My SN95 was dubbed “The Unicorn” years ago during a lengthy project phase because, like unicorns, it was often heard of but never seen.

My Ram is called “Artax” after the horse in “The Never Ending Story”.

My previous truck was called Pegasus.

I refer to this one sometimes as Eeyore. The last car I named was several back., a 13 GHIG premium with a 2300 TVS PD setup I called Oscar. I can't think of a time since 1989 that I named any other cars other than by their color or year.

I call mine Slug... due to most thinking that the 4.6 3v cars are slow. It may have the grille, but its not a factory Bullitt, so....Slug came to mind and thats how she got her name....

I am with Laga.
The Mustang is called the Mustang
The Truck is called the Truck
The Mercedes is called the Mercedes
The Mini is called the Mini.
Same goes for all of my guitars. I refer to them by what they are. Just never been into humanizing inanimate objects by giving them names.

My 08 GT is Sangria, sometimes when looking up the paint code for Dark Candy Apple Red it comes up as Sangria.

Joe Combs,
What bumper cover is that, I need a new one. GT/CS or Convertible cover?

IMG_20200907_1806171.jpg I'm with many of you - as it is the only Mustang in the family, it's simply The Mustang or The Car (the other 5 vehicles are trucks). If we had more than one Mustang, then it would probably be The Bullitt or The Stray (Bullitt).

The only car that had a personal name was a '65 Thunderbird, some 35+ years ago, when the state issued plates that began with the letters "LNR".

Yeah I think most Mustang owners name their car. Mines called Outlaw Sally here's a pic of her.

My friend named my car a Sears Point (Blue Ghost) because I disappeared on track from his GT500.
