I forgot to mention that the single P1000 code today was before I went for the 11 mile test. I'll check it again in a couple more starts to see if it's still present.

I did have the battery disconnected while installing TB sensor/before idle trim procedure.

Thanks all for the responses.
I neglected to say that I also have installed a breenspeed tune on the v6. It runs like my old stock sn95 gt with the 5 speed and a tune..... but I still have the wrench- no limp mode! Mpg , if I'm nice, can get to 28hyw, city is 15 via the computer.... its running fine. I just don't want to spend the money to take it to the dealer just for the idiot light if I don't have to.

Oliver - You have two icons, neither of which is the wrench. One is the battery/charging system icon, the other is low tire pressure warning.

If you look directly below the needle on the tac, you will clearly see the orange wrench.

The alternator has been flashing off and on for years, and the tps sensors need to be paired (new rims)

My bad; you are right. My 2006 has the orange wrench in the speedo pod, bottom middle. I wasn't expecting to see it up in the tach pod/ needle sweep area. :(

Leave it to Ford to switch things all around.

Crap!!! I took the Mustang out for a 20 mile drive today. Ran fine, no warning lights. I was interested in seeing if the P1000 code had disappeared (test complete?) so I hooked up ForScan and got this DTC report - pic attached.

Fuel gauge working normally, no issues that I can see. The only change from my test drive yesterday was when a driver pulled out in front of me and I hit the brakes hard and heard a loud 'thunk'. My first thought was that I had left a tool in the car and it had been thrown forward. I pulled over and looked inside, nothing there. Looked under the hood, nothing loose there. Drove home normally, still no issues. Fuel gauge working normally still.

I'm aware of the trunk lamp DTC; I removed the bulb weeks ago because the socket kept dropping down.

The fuel level sensor DTCs have me stumped. The tanks been full for a couple weeks (very little driving since fill-up). It does now show a slight decrease. The needle swings up when started. No visible leaks.

Anyone had this happen??? Panic-stop related, maybe???

Should I try to clear the codes???

Thanks in advance!

Just a follow-up to the above post. I decided to delete all the codes in the last scan, and when I deleted the P0463-FF DTC with Forscan, all the other DTCs went away. All that remains is the ubiquitous P1000 code.

Since then, I've put 61 miles and a dozens starts on the car. No warning lights, and no new codes.

I had planned a fuel filter and an oil change/filter next, but maybe I'll re-think those. I'm sure they'll give me multiple DTCs and probably a warning light or two. :(

(Still have no clue what that loud 'thunk' noise was...)

Why wait for maintenance? Maintenance is what keeps the car running longer. HAs the Fuel Filter ever been replaced?

88,000 miles; I'm third owner. CarFax showed regular maintenance (Kentucky car). Who knows if any filters were serviced. Air filter looked real good (I put new one in anyway); that's as far as I got. Winter coming fast, snow/salt up here, so car gets stored until April/May.

Today seat controls were non-functional. None of the buttons/switches worked. Fuse looks OK. No DTCs in ForScan. Connector maybe loose...???...

Check switch.

Disregard. I jiggled fuse #14, squeezed the connector under the seat, and now all switches work as intended. The magical mystical Mustang has once again fixed itself.

Never seen a fuse like the ones in the Mustang. Square. Asked at NAPA if they had a puller for these fuses, they had the fuses but no puller. 16 year old car, you'd think they'd have a cheap little plastic fuse puller by now... :(

I went to the dealership and had them run codes...I... they came up with no codes visible in the pcm, yet I still have the orange wrench illuminated on the dash...... they wanted to bring it in the shop, at 160 an hour, to figure out why it's lit but the cars running fine.......

Are you sure its not a maintenance light for an oil change?

Pcm sends signal over CAN to cluster to turn on check engine and wrench light. So, by deductive reasoning, if the pcm is clear of codes, the cluster is "confused". Not sure if there is a module reset option for the cluster. A cluster "reboot" will likely take care of that pesky light.
Either a battery disconnect, or pulling the cluster, unplugging and reconnecting it may take care of the light.
