i'm looking to run 10's all around so i can run the same tire on all 4 corners and keep that balanced handling. i've seen the FR500's in 10" wide with a 40mm offset work in the front of our cars. i'm looking to try THESE (link) on my car. i'm going to order 4 of those rears, they are 10 wide and a 42mm offset, so i figured if they don't clear the brakes or are too close to the strut i'll run a 3-5mm spacer. i'm going to run 275's all around. i can of course go with the 9's and squeeze the tire on, but i want the stiffness of the wider rim to ensure the sidewalls won't roll over during cornering. not to mention i really like these wheels with the lip, not to big not to small. Another option is even - keep the 9's in front and 10's out back for that great staggered look and run the same tire all around anyway. Has anyone tried this? think 275 would look weird with an inch difference in wheels ? any options or experience would be appreciated !!

Yeah you can probably get away with different size rubber using tire pressures as long as it's the same rubber all around. But your better off getting the same all around. Run 275's on 9.5" rims. Roush makes a set of 18x10's that fits all around. Not deep dish though. I hear you can barely fit 285's up front ;)

I just bought some gt500 rims for autox I'm gonna try 285/30/18 on all 4 corners.

Currently I have 305/40/18 in the rear on 10" and 275/40/18 up front on a 9" rim an I have autocrossed with it. The wear on my 275's don't go below the indicators at 35~40 psi

42mm offset will give you less clearance on the struts. I'm running the 40 offset with 275's and no rubbing lock to lock. You should be fine as long as the spoke design clears the brakes, at worst you might have to run a small spacer to clear the caliper.

New member here - replying to a VERY old thread - forgive me if not appropriate -

I have a 2010 GT with the factory 19x8.5 wheels that are +50 mm offset (6.72" BS)
I'm told, and research shows, it MIGHT be possible to run 20x10 FR500 wheels
that have +43 mm offset in the FRONT and rear - About the only thing needed might be
a very small spacer for the fronts, maybe 3-5 mm ??

So what do you think?

My car is a Sunday car show car - no track driving, just a few miles to the local car shows so
I'm going for all looks and hoping I can make the 20x10's work on all 4 corners - need to research best tire size as well

Please share your thoughts and experience

20x10 ET43 will fit without any issues.

These are Forgestar CF5 19x10 ET43 with 285/35 all around and no spacers. Barrel and spoke design clears the factory TrackPack Brembo 14" brakes.

A 10" wide wheel with an offset in the low 40s has kind of been established as a go to on this chassis for a street car. It's about as wide as you can get while running the same wheel on all four corners without needing a spacer up front or having the rears stick out in the breeze. I expect those wheels will clear the stock 2010 front caliper easily but you may notice the fronts tuck a bit more than the rears. If that bothers you, you can certainly run a 3mm spacer up front.

Thanks a bunch - your car looks great !!
Is there any differences with wheel fitments on the 2010 GT vs the 2011-2014 GT ??

So....same question for an 18x10 wheel with 45 mm offset - will that still work on the front?
So many of these wheel fitment notes say "rear only" but doing the math it seems like some may still work
on the front, such as the 20x10 with 43 offset, as you noted

There is no fitment difference between the 2010 and 2011-14 Mustangs, the 2010 body is identical to the 11-14's. Some would argue the 2005-09 models have slightly more fender space for wide wheels/tires and my experience would support that argument.

The factory Boss 302 rear wheel, which is a 19x10 ET47.5, will fit on the front with a 285/35 and clear the strut. They have been mounted on a few S197's on this forum.

Alot of "fitment" comes down to the actual wheel itself. They aren't all made to the same specification and some measurements can be off a little bit here and there, especially on cheaper Chitanium wheels coming from the northern hemisphere the other side of the globe from North America.

You do have to consider the inner barrel and backside spoke face if you have big brakes since some wheels aren't designed to fit with big brakes. It is says it will fit a GT500, it will fit all the other pedestrian Mustangs.

Once again, thank you - my question about the 2010 vs the 2011-2014 was more about the suspension, steering geometry, etc - I know the body is identical, but I was curious about clearance of suspension, etc
As your example of the Boss 302 rear wheel on the front fits - Do you know of any added issues with the 20" wheels or going smaller with an 18" wheel?

As wheel diameter increases, strut clearance does as well due to the struts being angled in towards the centerline of the car. At some backspacing measurement, an 18" wheel will touch the strut while a 20" won't. I don't know what that number is and it will vary slightly from one car to another. With 10" wide wheels, it may not be a factor unless you get the offset drastically wrong.
I expect an 18X10" +45 should be fine since that was the spec on one of the Roush S197 wheels. As oldVOR mentioned though, the measurements on some cheaper wheels may be off slightly.
If your wheel does hit the strut, you do have options. The easy/cheap way is obviously running a spacer. The pricier but likely better way would be adjusting camber towards positive at the spindle (which tilts the wheel away from the strut) and then replacing the stock non adjustable upper strut mounts with camber plates to get the alignment back in spec.

18 X 10 +45 AM wheels. Only used a 3 mm (or maybe 5, forget) spacer to keep 295 NT05 from hitting inner plastic wheelwell stuff (and it was only just grazing it, could have left it out).

@OX1 - thanks for this info, I am looking at those same wheels, do you have final pics of them with tires on the car?? What size tires are you running? Also, do you have pics of your Bullitt wheels? I am considering those as well - I like both styles of wheels - it's a difficult choice !!

Would love to see a pic on the ground with the set up. I am currently working on getting 18X9 front and 18X10.5 in the rear with 285/40 (rear)

Nope. I dug around, but that setup was only on the car for 1-2 days. My plan was 18 X 10's and 305 NT01's all the way around, to go run it one time on a road course. I decided with all the power, and no real brake ducts or upgraded trans cooling, that it probably would not go well for one reason or another.

Here is the Bullitt's (only a 255 on front, not 295)

@OX1 - WOW !!! That is the BEST looking Bullitt setup up I've ever seen.

I'd like to copy that set up, if you dont mind, for my 2010 GT - can you clarify a couple things? I got a little confused as to what the specs are for the setup in the pics - also, who makes those wheels? I know several different companies make them - I'm guessing those are American Racing or American Muscle? If you could list the wheel size, offsets, tire sizes I would really appreciate it - that is exactly the look I want but I would like to try to run a square setup using 4 deep dish (like your rears in the pic) if possible - I'd be willing to sacrifice some rear tire width in order to do a square set up with wide deep dish wheels all around THANKS !!

Basic suspension and geometry is the same from 2005 to 2014.

The only notable issue with 20" compared to 19" or 18" is the shorter tire side wall which typically results in a harsher ride for the same OD tire size. Some aren't bother by it, some are.

Sorry, you can't get those "grey" Bullitt's for S197's anymore, only for new edge now. But these were the style/company I got them from (I cut down stock stang center caps and glued them in). Pictured (above) is 18 X 10/9 set they used to sell. Tires were 295/40 NT05 in rear and a 255/45 NT555 front.

AM still makes these rims though. They call them anthracite, but they are really silver, with a tiny hint of green/blue to them.

Weird, I just found these too, claims for 05-09, not sure why they would be different than 10-14.

https://www.americanmuscle.com/anthracite-2005-deep-dish-bullitt-wheels-18x9-18x10.html

I bought a set of them also for my drag racing setup (10 rear, 8 front). You could have the spokes powder coated a true grey to match what I have. This is what those rims look like (they are the same 18 x 10 with 45 offset as the first AM's I posted about above, so should fit just as easily except for brake caliper clearance, which won't matter unless you have Brembos).

I think a 285/40 (or maybe 45) would fit with no spacers, and be plenty big enough for rear also. Something like this, they are only .2 inches smaller in diameter than stock 14 S197 tire size. .

Funny, I just found this image on AM, looks like just the setup you want.

The downside is these deep dish rims are an absolute nightmare to mount a tire. The deep dish makes the recessed part of rim really far away from outer rim edge. Tends to want to try and rip the bead when putting a stiff summer low profile tire on (see pic below). Luckily, it is easier to get them on than off, but hopefully, when you are taking them off, that means they are shot.

Those rims made me upgrade my tire machine with a bead compression setup instead of trashing inside of rim with crow bars.
