FRONT CRANK SEAL R & R

I need some pointers in replacing my Front Crank Seal in my 2006 4.6L. I understand that the radiator fan and reservoir need to be removed as well as the pulley and harmonic balancer. Are there any tidbits of information regarding the pulley removal? I will be working on my back on my garage floor in 100 degree heat (I live in the Phoenix area). Any tips for a quick R & R job will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I believe when I pulled my front cover I used the starter to undo the crank bolt. Place the ratchet or breaker bar against the ground and blipped the starter to loosen the bolt.

Interesting method… I have always used a high power impact gun but that might work too.

Wasn't bravery, was more like necessity.

I've done it with taking the front cover off, some say its not necessary but it's what I was comfortable with

..and while the front cover is off- it is a good idea to check out the timing chain components

When I installed underdrive pulleys, the AutoZone special tool wouldn't work. The Blue Point tool worked great, and I didn't have to remove the radiator.

I think I left the car in gear, parking brake on, and used a breaker bar to remove the crank bolt.
