Thinking about an oil change... so I searched for the "right " transmission oil. Came up with two different types of oil. The "Old DEXRON 3 " should be mineral based.. or the Mercon 5 which should be a synthetic oil. Some say the old DEX 3 is better, because it is not so slippery
I can buy both oils here in Germany. Wondering if I should go with the "Dino" type of oil for better shifts.

Any thoughts ??

@ Dino Dino Bambino The Mercon V ATF I can buy here in Germany... Did you change yours allready ? My Mustang has now around 30.000 km on the odometer. But the oil is 15 years old. That is the reason for the oil change.

@ all. so the majority is also in favor of the Synthetic oil. But I saw that you have other types of transmission. TR 6060 and T56 Magnum. My ride has the TR 3650 .

About the Mobil and Redline oils .I can´t get them here in Germany. The only oils I can buy here, are the Mercon V from Motorcraft and the Amsoil Multi Vehicle ATF.....

Yes, I replaced my transmission fluid in June 2020 at 146,700km (91k miles) with Motorcraft Mercon V that I ordered in eBay from a German vendor. It had previously been replaced by the previous owner at 96,700km (60k miles) two weeks before I bought the car in October 2013.
Current mileage is 159,600km (99k miles) with both the engine and transmission performing flawlessly.

Tremec says Mobil 1 ATF, Tick Performance says Dex III. I've used both with no issue. The Mobil 1 holds the edge for slicker shifts by a small amount

Not that anyone will listen to me, but I like seeing my name in print. I tried a couple different fluids and preferred Pennzoil SynchroMesh in my 3650 (2009 Bullitt). When I replaced the trans mission with the T56 I used the Tremec recommended Mobil 1 but the SynchroMesh seemed to feel smoother, less notchy. My mechanic (a lifelong Ford tech) was the one who recommended the SynchroMesh and I clocked my best times at the drag strip using it.

so ... I will use the MERCON V ATF.
@GriffX ato24.de is where I buy my oil. For Engine and Diff -I use AMSOIL only... Brake Fluid also AMSOIL only.
I buy sometimes there, the coolant Ravenol C11. For the brakes I use the Mercedes DOT4+ stuff.
A non-Diesel 5w30 A3/B3 is hard to get. And the price for BASF coolant has got insane.

I use Amsoil XL 5w30 Boosted ... good stuff. Coolant : Ford stuff only. as for the brakes.. on the reservoir is written DOT3 only. That´s why I am using the Amsoil Brake fluid. DOT4+ would be better for me to get around here. They sell the DOT at every corner.....

I've been using Castrol SRF brake fluid for years with no issues. And I used to use Motul RBF600 for brake fluid. Just used a vacuum brake bleeder to do the fluid exchange.

@skwerl I don´t think, that I can buy Pennzoil Synchomesh here in Germany...
When I bought a new Tremec T56 XL for my Bullitt, the tag on it said to fill with Mobil1 ATF. I did and it worked fine. If Tremec recommends it then it must be good for a Tremec transmission.

When I installed the T56 Magnum XL a few years ago I spoke with Tremec about fluid. They recommended their own Tremec brand HD MTF. They went on to say that Mobile 1 all brands synthetic ATF is the only other fluid that has been fully tested and found compatible with the synchro material. He did not say don’t use this or that but, only Mobile 1 has been tested and approved. For the record, I have run Tremec HD MTF and found it to be just slightly thicker than ATF and requires a little more warm up before banging gears.:driver:

I would never hesitate to use an Amsoil product. And since Synchromesh is one of the fluids you can use in your transmission I would go with this:
