I joined back in May last year when I purchased an 05 Roush Stage 1 Mustang with 34k miles, manual transmission. I have been reading a lot to ensure I make good decisions with any mods I decide, this site has been a wealth of information.
This is my first manual, omg have I been missing out, definitely lots of fun to drive.
She came with an Airaid CAI, pypes X pipe and pypes cat back mid muffler exhaust. Cats were cut off but previous owner still had them and they came with the car. SCT handheld with a couple bama tunes on it. Race tune was loaded on it when I test drove it, which drivability was rough taking off and in 1st gear but overall clean car .
First thing I welded the cats back on, quiet her down a little and got rid of the cel. Changed oil and tranny fluid, freshened up some suspension/chassis components, GT 500 LCAs front and rear, strut mounts, end links, sway bar bushings. None were really bad but showed some age wear. Red door inserts, CF dash and console accents, new set of tires and an alignment and enjoyed until she was put to sleep for the michigan winter.
Before I got her out about a month ago, found a great deal on ebay on unused ford shorty headers which were ceramic coated (while I know little to no gain, beats rusty stock exhaust manifolds while I contemplate long tubes) install was easy. Also added an AEM wideband and contacted Lito for a tune. He is for sure worth his weight and more in gold. Drivability is night and day, way more fun to drive and he is super helpful with answering any questions.
This weekend I installed black ford racing valve covers that I painted the ford oval red, APR CF fuel rail covers and a 07 up stock intake cover I painted gloss black and the pony red. It was also a great time to wipe down the engine bay and get her cleaned up.
Next winter I plan to freshen up the timing components with the revised ford kit including the followers to ensure no issues on down the road and still deciding on possible cam upgrade which I was discussing with Lito. Not looking for a horsepower monster but having a little fun.
