    05’ V6 4.0L Camshaft Lobe question

Sorry, I don't know enough about cam wear to make a meaningful recommendation. However, now that the engine is out of the car, it's a good opportunity to fix potential problems. My real question is what are your intentions with pulling the engine? This may impact suggestions.

    Overheated now won’t start

Good luck and don't get too stressed. I went through this buying the car in this condition. I knew that worst case, I could make my money back and learn something new in the process. I pulled a head considering replacing both and noticed the timing chain guides were broken as I had expected. I...

    Overheated now won’t start

I'm guessing no compression. Overheating shouldn't necessarily cause it to spray coolant as the cap will relieve pressure at 16 psi. Probably burst a coolant hose and then kept driving unnoticed and that caused it to overheat. When it overheated, it could have warped the aluminum cylinder heads...

Dies while driving, slow or freeway speeds

I went back and re read from the beginning. It caught my attention that you need to completely turn the key off and then back on to start. I'm wondering if it may be something with the ignition switch. I'm not suggesting throwing more parts at it, but just an idea to think about.

Dies while driving, slow or freeway speeds

I wish I could help you with a definitive answer, but I don't think throwing parts at it is going to help much. Maybe fuel pump intermittent issues? Consider getting a bluetooth OBD dongle and a cheap/free cellphone app to monitor the engine. Not great, but you can see many functions like O2...

    2007 4.0 V6: Throttle Bog & Various O2 Codes ?

For now, I wouldn't worry too much about the sensor 2 because it should not affect driveability. I think a start would be to see what the o2 sensor voltages look like when running. Watching a graph of both sensors next to each other, they should look very similar consistently switching voltage...

Weird engine issue. Crankshaft position sensor connector?

Just looking to hear some thoughts on this. Not so quick back story. I bought this as a project this past fall. PO overheated it and it had almost no compression in all cylinders. I pulled it, replaced heads with new and replaced all timing components. Ran fine afterwards other than EGR code...

    Timing Chain or Motor Swap

If you get a used engine, how long will those timing chains last? My thoughts are that the most cost effective of the 2 options listed is to find a used one that has had the timing chains done when pulled. However, if you can handle pulling the engine yourself, you can probably handle the timing...

    Rough idle on 06 4.0

This forum is tough. I'm used to the jeep forums that have 5 replies before you can refresh the page. I'm still learning, so would like to see an update as well. As asked above, I would like to see the fuel trims and more information about setup. Mine had a code for EGR insufficient flow. It was...

07 4.0 rough start long crank HELP

I'm not a mechanic, so as with any forum advice, take this for what it is as only a suggestion and tool to help you find the issue. My experience with this engine is only 4 months old, but I by myself have removed it from the car, torn it apart, replaced the heads and all timing components and...
