what is your Max engine RPM set to, and at what RPM do you shift?

My '05 GT has most of the usual bolt ons along(except for throttle body) with cams. I have the rev limiter set to 7,000 and shift at about 6800 RPM on the track. After 3,000+ track miles its still going strong. Below the dyno shots the power before and after I added the Kooks headers and...

Swapping in 3.55 gears may have saved my life

That was suppose to be chunks. The I and U are so close to each other on the keyboard. Surprisingly the gears were only noisy when costing downhill and they weren't that noisy. I thought most of the noise was transmitted through the roto joints in all the UMI suspension bits.

Swapping in 3.55 gears may have saved my life

I forgot I never posted pictures of the diff. I didn't get many good pictures. The cell phone pics were blurry, but here are a couple pictures. There were also missing from the ring gear in various places. The pinion gear had an unusual wear pattern to it also. I also ended up having...

    Suggestions/advice

If you are keeping your house in VA< keep the car registered in VA and drive the car in California. Just get it retuned for 91 octane. There is no reason to register in in CA.

Swapping in 3.55 gears may have saved my life

I picked up the car this afternoon and I also took pics of what was left of the gears in the rear. Its amazing how many gears were missing teeth or had damaged teeth. I'll upload pics later.

    2013 GT Suspension

If you plan to do AutoX, skip the BMR springs and go with Steeda Sport springs. Also look into the Koni Yellow Sport struts/shocks or Tokiko adjustable struts/shocks instead of the STR.T's. With lowering the car, you may be better off getting camber plates instead of the GT500 strut mounts.

Swapping in 3.55 gears may have saved my life

Yea, I guess I can consider myself lucky. At first I was disappointing at the extra time and cost, but it beats having the diff lock up at the wrong time and send my car off the road into a tree or off the track into a wall.

    Any benefit to slotted/drilled rotors?

I either run Ford rotors form New Takeoff or DBA rotors. On the street, I use the Ford rotors and either OEM Ford pads from new takeoff too. On the track I use a separate set of Ford or DBA rotors and Carbotec XP-10 pads in the front and XP-8 pads in the rear. Some people claim slotted...

Swapping in 3.55 gears may have saved my life

I took the Mustang to a Friend's shop today to have the 4.10 gears put in by the 1st owner replaced with 3.55 gears so that the car would have more top end on the road course and get better gas mileage on the highway. With the 4.10 gears and smaller diameter R comp tires, I run out of gear by...

    2005 tach problem

I had something similar happen to my 2005 GT after the battery died. The tach was way off. I took the cluster out, took off the cover, and removed the tach needle and reinstalled it so that it was at zero. I put everything back together. It worked fine after that.

Rear Brake Caliper Options..... stock ones are ugly

If all you care about is the appearance of the rear calipers, then just pain the rear calipers and brackets with a brake caliper paint.

Reliability and longevitiy of different bearings for rear end and axles?

Does anyone have long term data for the reliability of different brands of differential and axle bearings or other automotive bearings? I know we should stay away form the cheap Chinese and Vietnamese bearings in automobile parts. I've seen and heard of some pretty bad bearing failures with...

    Best Street Tire?

I had them int he past. They were the noisiest tire I've ever had on a vehicle. They made off road truck tires seem quiet.

    Best Street Tire?

I agree with this. On a dry road course, they will run similar lap times to the Pilot Sport Cups until they overheat. They are also great tires in the rain.

Another which differential thread with new questions

Sometime in the next month, I'm getting rid of the 4.10 gears and going back to the stock 3.55 gears. I loved the 3.55 gears in my `08 GT for most of the tracks I've been to and the 4.10's are starting to get really annoying for both track days and daily driving. While I have the diff apart...

Time for a new engine: 302 (5.0L) 3V Forged Stroker or Ford 5.0L 4V Swap?

My 2008 GT with bolt ons was a very reliable track day car. I put about 3,500 track miles on it in 2 years without any issues until I stuffed it into the wall at NJMP. That car put down 311 HP and 325 lb-ft to the wheels with an intake, headers, and a tune. So far, my 2005 GT has been a...

Wilwood 4 Piston Brake Caliper Swap

They might fit in the 17" wheels depending on the design of the wheel if you use the 12.6" rotor. I'm not sure of the 13.1" rotor.

    caliper painting

I used a dark silver grey on my '08 GT's calipers. On my '05 Sonic Blue GT I used the Blue paint form G2 that has a slight purpleish tint to it in some light. If you want the calipers to stand out, use yellow.

CanOBD2 Scanners - What did you purchase?

    What's it worth? OEM HIDs

Both Saleen or Steeda had it on their web page from fall of 2008 until recently. They were listed as having a MSRP of $999.99 and selling price of $899.99. Every couple months I'd go back and look at it hoping to find it on sale. It looks like its out of stock on Steeda's page now. Here is...
