    Windsor Swap K Member?

Putting a 302/351W into a s197 is easy. I have made 2 types of mounts for the stock k-member.. The 1/4 inch flat stock plate versions ( top pic ) were much better. They adapt to the stock s197 motor mounts and the oil pan clears the steering rack. I have a AJE k-member and have weighed it up...

    460 Stroker BBF/Pwrglde

The powerglide should be easy to fit the trans tunnel of a s197. Here is a video of the big C-6 trans in the s197. Tight fit

There is a fb group for pushrod v-8 swapped s197s. Several members there have done the 460 swap.... https://www.facebook.com/groups/576060102874419 Here is a video I made showing it will clear the stock k-member and clear the hood with an Edelbrock Torker II intake and Moroso drop base 14 x...

I hope Ford pulls several hundred off the super duty plant line and offers them as crate engines. $ 8,500 without ECU and $ 9,995 with the ecu included would be nice :)

    Throwback: BMR's 2005 S197 Mustang Build, 1000+HP Pushrod

I can totally relate to why someone back then put a pushrod Ford engine into an s197. ( cost vs. power reward) I still remember seeing Jon Kaase's Boss 429 based 2008 GT at his shop in GA. He was the first person that I recall doing the BBF swap ( around 08 or 09 ) With that said, we are now...

    Lito tune

I bought a tuner with a pre loaded tune from B.S. Lito tuned mine and the car ran quicker while shifting earlier and with better gas pedal control. The red GT is now the most consistent bracket car I have ever owned. Best 100 bucks I spent on the car

3V into a retired NASCAR.... just getting started.

A few years ago I had the owner of a body shop in KY tell me that as long as the VIN plate was unaltered and still attached to the original bodywork that he could take a total mess of a wreck and patch weld that sheetmetal around the VIN tag into a straight vehicle and it would still be legal (...

Contemplating FI 4.6 into '12 V6 car - looking for input as to what ECU to use

Yep. I picked up a complete running 5.0 from a 2012 F150 for $ 450 a few months ago. I got to see and hear the engine run. No smoke and quiet :)

3V into a retired NASCAR.... just getting started.

Cool build. Ever since the 1980's I have always wanted a stock car that I could drive on the street. The guys on the Roadkill show had a asphalt stock car they put a cut up Monte Carlo body on so they could make it legal with a vin to drive on the street. I would love to find a stock car...

Let's get this forum going again...

Yep, only the forums store all the valuable info. Sad, because I am now searching for info I need to complete my projects. When I got my first s197 4 years ago I thought I was working on late model cars. Now I have (4) 2005 Mustangs and I cannot believe they are 15 years old.

Fitting a 460 BBF and C-6 trans into an s197....the "lower buck" way

Not sure what the part number of the pan is. As far as I know they only make one rear sump Fox Body 460 pan

14 x 3 Moroso Air cleaner clears the hood blanket (barely) The Edelbrock Torker II intake is what I was using in the pics. There is a video in post # 19

Fitting a 460 BBF and C-6 trans into an s197....the "lower buck" way

I made my own trans crossmember because I needed it to be adjustable for 3 different types of transmissions I will use in the car. Plus I wanted it to be the attachment point for the new 20 dollar driveshaft loop

Fitting a 460 BBF and C-6 trans into an s197....the "lower buck" way

C-6 transmission is big but fits the s197 tunnel ( barely) I did have to massage the right side floor area next to the servo housing. Barely clears the hump on the left side where the crossmember bolts up

Canton oil pan clearance is just enough S197 upper hose on my 05 GT lines up well with the 460 t-stat housing

Fitting a 460 BBF and C-6 trans into an s197....the "lower buck" way

These are the engine mounts in the rough-in stage. I bought the car with a AJE k-member already installed so making the mounts was easy once I located the block where I wanted it My engine sits further to the rear than those guys that are using the AJE k-member with the AJE mounts. I did...

Fitting a 460 BBF and C-6 trans into an s197....the "lower buck" way

Plenty of room on the passenger side for the Fox 460 Hooker Header. Bottom pics shows 74-78 Ford LTD exhaust manifolds installed both sides ( for the super low buck guys)

Fitting a 460 BBF and C-6 trans into an s197....the "lower buck" way

This is why Hooker 460 Fox Swap headers will not fit on the driver's side. There is not enough room for the # 8 tube to snake between the steering shaft and the frame rail
