    LSD swap question

Spoke with a Ford tech, and it sounds like you do have to shim it appropriately for backlash, but shouldn't have to mess with pinion depth or do the marking deal on the teeth etc. He also said they could do my axle seal under warranty, and then for an extra $350 throw in whatever LSD I bring...

    LSD swap question

Yes, it's spraying around the inside of my left rear wheel. I have the Boss diff cover with the axle vent up high and the normal axle vent hole on the log plugged, so I've got that issue covered.

    LSD swap question

I've got a 2014 GT with a rear axle seal leaking when it's on track or driven aggressively. Hence, need to at least get new seals on it. May have the dealer do it under warranty, but had some thoughts of swapping the Trac-Lock out for an Eaton Trutrac or a Torsen. Mine is a Brembo GT with a...

BMR Springs and Steeda Top Mounts not getting along; thoughts?

What finally worked was sending the springs back and reinstalling the FRPP P springs. :) I called BMR and they said you just have to be very careful and let tension off the spring asymmetrically and slowly and it'll seat fine. I tried again, several different ways, and just couldn't get it...

BMR Springs and Steeda Top Mounts not getting along; thoughts?

Swapping from Ford P springs to BMR Handling springs today (the stiffer ones of BMR's). I have 2011+ Konis and the 2011+ Steeda camber plates. Steeda camber plates come apart fairly easily if you don't let tension off the spring fairly gently and easily, but it wasn't a notable problem with...

    TPMS in your track wheels?

To the original point, I do run TPMS in my track wheels as I do also run the tires to and from the track etc. And sensors for the 2010-2014 cars are all of about $60 for a set of four on ebay and usually sync themselves. Hardly necessary, but it saves having a light come on and in theory it...

    2013 GT500 Winter Wheels and Tires? 18's?`

SVE Drifts in 19x9.5" should clear, and are relatively cheap ($640 shipped for a set of four in black). Friend of mine has an S550 PP with the giant Brembos and he's running them with Pirelli snows right now; I'm thinking that's a very similar brake package to a 13-14 GT500. As noted, very...

    2015 Nannies Off

I spun my 2010 twice on track (once on power and once on a lift when trail braking a little too deep) and nothing ever came back on. I have not gotten too far out of shape in my 2014, but with everything on, TCS off and advance trac on, or 'Sport Mode', the car sucks to drive on track. It...

    Koni yellows pair best with...

While on the subject, I run Ford P-springs on my Koni Sports with the Steeda upper mounts. Lowered the car approximately 20mm all around, which I liked. But I'm going to have to agree with Kelly; progressive springs are not great on this car. I'd never really had issue with them in the past on...

Backroads corner-carving: What kind of setup for fun/safety/performance

In terms of people who live in Kansas, I'm a 1%er as far as driving in the twisties. By that I mean it's tough to find much day to day, but a few guys and I have an annual 'fishing' trip to the Ozarks every year (easier to say fishing than telling people that you and your buddies are going to...

    St-xta coil overs? Opinions???

I'm not sure what you guys do with your cars, but if you're needing shocks every year or two it's clearly more than I'm doing with mine. For my 5 or so track days per year, annual pilgrimage to the twisties (about a 1000 mile trip, half of which is deserted, entertaining roads), 5k or so of...

    St-xta coil overs? Opinions???

There is, actually, another rebound-only adjustable damper for the Mustang, and it's cheap. Saw 10 way adjustable twin-tube Strange shocks on UPR's site. I can't believe they are anything too special given the price and the fact they come from a company that predominantly specializes in drag...

    St-xta coil overs? Opinions???

I sure hope not, since my alignment shop is my garage! I like the Bilsteins in concept, but I like adjustability more than worrying about whether a shock is twin tube or monotube. Dare I even bring that up for fear of reigniting that holy war. And I understand Bilstein was having a bit of an...

    St-xta coil overs? Opinions???

Not sure if this is a more recent development due to bad QC, or just more problematic on the S197 chassis when lowered, but as a former vendor I sold over 100 sets of Koni Sports for RX-8s and can only recall two issues being brought to my attention. Both of which were resolved by Koni. We also...

    BMR Watts Link - Teaser

By no means is this proof that it's consistent, but in looking under several cars it would appear that '05-10 vents are on the passenger side and '11-14 vents are on the driver side. There may be exceptions, or it may be totally random, but across the 10 or so cars I've looked at and/or worked...

    Well, phooey...

I did basically the same thing on my 2010; Steeda upper mounts in front, Koni yellows, and OEM springs. The improvement in handling is truly night and day. That wasted motion you feel on turn-in (and everywhere else) is suddenly gone, yet the ride doesn't suffer. I think you'll be quite happy...

    Common Track Failures

Hell, the rear axle vent is inadequate for street use if you live where there are roundabouts in abundance and you enjoy them. The Boss/GT500 diff cover relocates the vent to the top of the cover and you can then plug the hole where the vent was on the axle; a few track days on my 2010 and no...

Motive power bleeder - air pressure only

Agreed; use air only, about 10psi. Long ago when I first got the thing (15 years ago maybe?) we would put fluid in it, but about half the time it ended in a brake fluid mess. Been quite happy with air only for a number of years now. Just works and no mess.

Koni & Steeda vs Track pack at local track (NHMS)

You can drive to and from the track just fine on DTC-60s or Carbotech XP12s. I know that from personal experience. Race pads of that ilk technically don't 'work' until they reach 300-400 degrees or so, but in my experience the car stops just fine in normal road driving. Maybe on a really cold...

Koni & Steeda vs Track pack at local track (NHMS)

I can't believe we made it this far in the thread before Arustik and csamsh pointed out your real problem; Hawk HP+ are not a real track pad. I don't care how much cooling you throw at them, especially now running 285 RS3s you are going to get plenty of brake fade. They are a good pad for...

The more I read about sway bars the more I think they are unneccessary

I'm not in the realm of expert by any means, but I've done a lot of chassis tuning on a number of different platforms over the years. As has been made clear, it's the combination of parts and what you want the car to do that dictates what you should do about swaybars. If you have the budget...

Those with GT500 9.5" wheels - what tire size are you running on the track?

275/40/18; mine is predominantly a street car that sees the track once in awhile, and the setup seems to work. I wouldn't lose much sleep over the response aspect; it's good information to have, but the difference will be minor in the scheme of things and as Norm suggests if running 9.5" wheels...

Anyone track or autox their mustang GT on OEM shocks / springs / swaybars?

In transitions and on undulations at higher speeds, the car flops around and won't settle in. I read that as underdamped, but perhaps a better term would be 'poorly' damped; on high frequency stuff it seems to be initially too soft and then suddenly too hard (overdamped once past a certain...

Anyone track or autox their mustang GT on OEM shocks / springs / swaybars?

Stock Brembo suspension is pretty bad. I had a 2010 plain old GT and with just Konis and Steeda upper mounts (and OEM springs) it was literally night and day once those went on. And a WHOLE lot better than my OEM 2014 Brembo car is right now. It's oddly stiff and crashy at low speeds, has that...

    BMR Watts Link - Teaser

Very interested in the Watts, and also possibly interested in your new line of springs? What are you planning on there in terms of rate and drop? Did not see mention of new springs anywhere else. Looking forward to seeing all of this develop.
