Right, I see all of your points and agree with them. Is there any intercooled setups you can recommend?
I would just go right to a procharger or a turbo, the Vortech is a decent product but by the time you get get it sorted you will have spent the same money. I see used Procharger kits on the forum regularly. A Whipple would rip the tires loose at nearly any RPM though, that sounds more like the type of power cure a drift car needs, to me at least.
Agreed. I won't be going boost which is why I mention going cam route on mine. As for the pacesetter headers and H pipe. That is exactly the pair i have on my car. I got the combo for ~400 bucks new from AM. I think they stopped selling the headers there though. The fitment was perfect. I don't like the finish, but i knew that going in. The shipping paint heats up and peels off on first run. However I still have the paint mid way down the headers after a year of having them. It is amazing how quickly those headers cool compared to the stock iron ones. No leaks either. I went with new factory gaskets from the dealership and used hardware that came with the headers. Also, hopefully i didn't confuse you OutlawEvans when I said I ran the Pypes exhaust. I only run their cat back setup which attaches at the H- pipe ends.
I got to do some follow runs with this other mustang as well. More content coming soon! Hey guys! So I tested the car at the grange and it ran great!! Only issue is the water ran low a few times but the car never got hotter than 220f. I think either I didn’t fully burp the cooling system or the head is leaking. Other than that I’m going to pressure check it and get it ready for willow springs!! Since the head might be going I’m tossing an idea around if starting a new engine build to put it when this engine does go. I would love to do a n/a setup with high compression pistons running on 100 or more octane. Has anyone seen this done before? Closest I’ve found has been this article http://www.mustangandfords.com/how-to/engine/1408-400-hp-4-6l-three-valve-stroker-build/
On stand by. Also, I wish Mustang 360 would finish the write up on that motor. I would be curious to see its final numbers and sound it makes.
Been a long time since a post update! So currently the car has been garaged for about half a year. That’s about to change because I’m going to make it street legal soon. I had to sell my trailer because the HOA has been trying to fine me at my new place I’m renting. So I’m going to use the cash to make a dope street car that I’ll drive to drift events
Haha right?? It was a super good deal for now, we’re still just renting. The trailer was a POS times 1000 so I’m actually glad I sold it for what I got
Hopefully will have a mid pipe with some cats soon, hopefully I pass smog as well and get this damn thing registered so I can drive it! Really missing it
