Hey everyone, I bought a 2006 Mustang GT with a rebuilt title, and it had the airbag light on. I scanned it and it had 2 codes

B2293 — Airbag Fault
B2292 — Seatbelt Pretensioner Fault

The car also didn't have a driver wheel airbag. So the first thing I did was replace that, and that didn't change any codes. Then I wanted to investigate the seatbelt and found that the wire was unplugged, so I plugged that in, and now only one code remains, B2293 — Airbag Fault. From what I saw, this code means that the RCM has some saved crash data and needs to be reset. Is this true? If yes, what is the best way to do it, and can I DIY it? thanks

The RCM would need to be reset with an appropriate scan tool. If the code clears and comes back there is another issue.

i tried to clear the code with an obd2 scanner, and it came back. do I have to ship it out to my airbags or something like that? any other recommendations for people that do this stuff

Sadly some aftermarket scanners will NOT clear codes appropriately. What type of scanner are you using?

I personally have never used that one. I can tell you from being in the business for a very long time that there is nothing aftermarket as good as the manufacturers equipment.
Ok, so is the dealership my only option then? how much would it cost?

Possibly a professional quality scanner like snap-on or other name brand manufacturer might do the job?
