My son’s dad bought him an 2006 V6 and had an engine rebuilt for it. Ran fine and then overheated. So mechanic replaced water pump, thermostat and thermostat housing and car ran fine. Car was making a grinding noise under hood mechanic first said alternator but alternator tested good then he said it was the belt tensioner so he replaced that. Later that afternoon car jerked when starting but then ran fine. That evening son drove to friends house and then when he got ready to leave the car starts but then dies when you start to go. Does this over and over. Mechanic came out said it was the fuel pressure regulator change that out and the car still did the same thing so then he put a new fuel pump on it and the car is still doing the same thing. No check engine light.

1. Fire mechanic.

2. Get a scanner. Or get it scanned at parts house.

3. Come back and tell us what codes, if any, it's throwing.

Ya sound like like mechanic is taking you guys for a ride. The alt could be dead and giving a false positive. Do what MrBhp recommends to see what's really going on.
