Thanks for the info. I’m tired of using the aux to iPhone cord lol. The sound now for me is plenty just want the apple car play to make it more convenient.

For sound quality, the aux cable will be the best. You do lose some fidelity with BT.

Hey, thanks for the help, got the Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX. Some of the install kit wiring is getting shipped so it’s not getting power yet. But want to see how well it looks in there. So if anyone else wants to see a picture of how well it looks compared to factory radios here you go.

I got the 6disc nav radio from an 08 CS in my 09 GT. The nav works fine and all but no Bluetooth and it’s kind of dated. clutchfield has a bunch and many aftermarket companies I’m not Familiar with. So I’m interested in what some other people have and their experience, that have of course invested in Bluetooth nav for their 2005-2009 mustangs

I put a double din, touch screen Pioneer in my 05 diesel recently. One thing I never thought of was how long they take to "boot up". It's basically a small computer. A little annoying since factory radios come on immediately (and this is supposed to be an upgrade). Not the end of the world, but sometimes by the time back up camera finally comes on, I've already backed up.

You are not alone. The way I look at it is, "experinced" people have already done almost everything in life the dumb way. We don't have nearly the tolerance for things like 7 screen changes to get to the fader, when our entire life, it was typically a knob sitting right in front of us.

Just wired up the new pioneer head deck. Nice piece! But does anyone know what color wire Corresponds with the car speed signal input(pink) on a 09 mustang? Searching the web wasn’t very hopeful

Speed volume in the stock unit was controlled via the can bus. The radio basically was receiving the speedo signal. On the aftermarket unit, is there a can bus connection? Does the AM HU have the ability to do "speed volume"?

I don't remember if the pioneer decks can do CANBUS without something like an iDatalink Maestro. The 4400NEX can do speed volume based off of the GPS antenna it comes with though.

This one can do the speed volume off of the gps too. The speed signal input is just an extra doubled up feature in case of gps failing. I only get the warning it’s not hooked up in my garage, which all gps antennas struggle. Outside of that everything works and no warning. Optional install I found out. The hand brake wire different story

Huh, I read the owners manual and it looks like it can use the raw pulses from the VSS (in addition to gps or something like iDatalink).

Your last link is pretty helpful, might try something I read there this weekend just because that car speed signal input is bothering me.

But can you or anyone help with this? What does hooking that up really do for 2005-2009 mustangs with the shaker 500 or 1000. Mine isn’t hooked up and everything works exactly as it should. I’ve read some conflicting statements on this matter. Outside of the radio telling me that the speed signal wire is unplugged when I start the car in my garage. My best guess is if the gps is getting no signal or poor signal that car speed signal then does something useful, my garage is like a bunker even my cell reception falls off. Just wondering if not hooking that wire up will cause problems later on. I don’t seem to have any of those issues people talk about with this issue. weird

I read in the owners manual for the 4660 that Apple car play could give you problems, I think it wants to no speed pulses plus the parking brake engaged in order to see you're not moving to allow you to access certain settings. I know on my 4400, on Android auto it won't let you use the keyboard if the gps says you're moving. Some of the radios settings are unavailable of it sees you're moving too.

I would try to see if there's anything the radio wont let you do right now

I bought idatalink maestro rr radio interface. Solves the issue and easy to install. Recommend by clutch field but I bought my pioneer from Best Buy. Buying the universal interface saves so much time and adds a whole bunch of other options too. FYI to anyone’s who overhauls their system in their s197. Also in my experience grounding the e-brake wire does still work, heard you needed to do the toggle switch method but with the dmh 4660nex not required FYI.
