Anyone here ever installed a 4.75 crank?

Just ordered the MMR 4.75 Crank and after doing some reading, I've seen posts about a few issues people seem to be having with it. I was wondering if anyone here has installed the crank themselves or rebuilt an MMR assembled block and could give me some pointers.

I've specifically read about the thrust bearings being an issue due to the shims MMR sent being slightly wrong in thickness and/or not dimpled, causing them to fall out. I did read that MMR has updated something with them and they now work. I was wondering if anyone could verify that this is no longer an issue.

Also, the crank requires a flexplate/flywheel spacer. I've ordered that too but not sure where exactly it'll go. If anyone happens to have a pic or can explain, I'd be very grateful.

Every engine is different. Impossible to say what you might experience. What about machine work?
