Hey guys new to the forums. And semi new to the world of high end detailing and paint correction. Here is some of my work on my car. Total time in it is about 50 hours.

Honestly, here is just a picture summary of the work I've done the past 2 months. I've used an array of products from chemical guys to menzerna to zymol and honestly there is no one size fits all bill. You need different combos for different cars in different conditions. Any question you have post them and I'll do my best to get back to you. Detailing jobs are picking up like crazy here with the weather. Enjoy!

Paint correction

Beginning pic, just taped up and clayed.
Left to right. (36, 38, BL glasur). (36, 38, BL Pete's). (36, BL, Pete's).

Sooooo many swirls

The large scratch here sort of came out by the end of correction. Seems to be quite deep? any thoughts?

Pic here shows a good 50/50 of a corrected vs uncorrected panel. HUGE difference and pleased with the products so far.

Like glass :)

Top shot. All are pretty close
I feel like with a finer polish and a sealer or better glaze might help separate the pete's from glasur. I like how clear the reflection of the tarp is on the glasur panel.

Kind of blurry but you get the point
So long Turtle wax! And auto zone... :wave

After 36, really slowed it down in speed and let the pad and compound combo work together. Great results.

Can definitely tell you put a ton of work into that finish. Nice job. I wonder though if you should have started out with CG's 32 or 34 as bad as the swirl and marring was on your car. It may have saved you some time. Never used either myself though.

I wish I had the time and/or energy to do all of that.

Thanks for the comments fellas.

I've never used 32. 34 does great work but will leave some haze that 36 takes out obviously. You wouldn't ever see it on a light color but I'm glad I've had the opportunity to learn on black. you see every imperfection. I am a firm believer in not only the compound but also the pads. I used Lake Country's Hydro foam. I would like to use BuffnShine brand's because they have more transitional pads. Where I can use 36 on two different pads as two different steps.

Any of zymol's top shelf stuff is a best kept secret. Rumor is glasur will be ending it's run soon. Don't know how true that is though. I'd recommend it. I'm looking to invest in the Destiny wax for a couple high end clients I have. Anyone on a budget I'd recommend Zymol Carbon = $50, free shipping from zymol. Awesome stuff.

1) Glasur, applying it by hand is a whole new experience lol and 2) it is an anti static. My car doesn't get dusty. However, I don't have drag radials yet either though. So durability reviews in regards to that will follow.

Well this whole experience has changed my outlook on detailing. It is now effortless and enjoyable. Where before, yeah it was like therapy, but it was also a pain. bahaahaha Turtle wax...? Aint no one got time for that. I thought I knew how to detail a car. Little did I know there was a whole new world. It's really fun mixing my passion with the technology/technique these products require. Just awesome.

Yes black is a true PITA to maintain. But when it's right it's just stunning. I feel your pain. I have tens of hours in mine right now and I'm just about done with the final polishing using Menzerna. Then I will do a coat of CG's Blacklight, Black wax and a final spray of V7.

Per Seers recommendation I'm just going to use a glaze throughout the summer if I see some light marring come back. Then by the end of the year I will strip it down again, ditch the PC, buy a Flex and try CG's 36 for sure to see how it does on general light marring. I have been using Meguiars Microfiber system with my PC and their D300 compound for swirls and marring and it does a good job without too much dusting. Just takes quite a few passes on stubborn areas. I'd like to speed that up with a Flex polisher trying the CG's 36. I only drive the car a few days a week tops in the spring/fall/summer and never in the rain so any marring I get is light enough to where CG's 36 should do the job.

Again, nice job man. You put a ton of effort in and it shows.

holy sh**, your paint was jacked! Great results man. keep up the good work!! What machine were you using??

Griot's DA. Great product, good power, lifetime warranty.

@ Timmbo

36 is a great one step especially with the right pad. Perfect example. Today I did a hood for a client on a 911 Carrera. Beautiful car btw. There were haze marks and swirls left over from a poor rotary buffer job. I tested 36. It did ok but I wanted perfection, and with it being black and a little more rough I was able to go 34, 36, and finish with Menzerna's 4500. One of my favorite products to finish with. Keep in mind the Porsche Paint is a bit softer anyways. I loved the way it responded to 36. Again, no one combo works every time on every paint and paint condition but there's great results to be had with 36. Just gotta let the pad and product do the work. I've really learned a lot and stepped up the skill with the DA and the right combo of pads and compounds. I love this hobby :beerchug2:
