I have a 2006 ford mustang V6 that I am doing a F150 coyote swap in and the engine is in but the oil filter won’t fit because it’s hitting the sway bar does anyone know of any fixes. Thanks!
Get a mustang oil filter adapter. They are generation specific, make sure you have the correct one.I have a 2006 ford mustang V6 that I am doing a F150 coyote swap in and the engine is in but the oil filter won’t fit because it’s hitting the sway bar does anyone know of any fixes. Thanks!
I have asked ford for the mustang oil filter adapter and they said they can’t give me one without the vin.Get a mustang oil filter adapter. They are generation specific, make sure you have the correct one.
Gen 2 coyote from the f150 has a different firing order than the Mustang.
I know we don’t want to handhold through every little thing, so I have a quick answer. Make sure you do a lot of reading on the topic and you have a game plan for everything.
Do you have a gen 1 or gen 2?I have asked ford for the mustang oil filter adapter and they said they can’t give me one without the vin.

I did not know that was your site, I remember coming across that at some point and saving the link. Really good info in there. That's from my site but it won't answer the OP's question. As I see it there are two options:
1. Relocate the oil filter, but kits can cost $500+. Here's a couple that cost considerably less:

2. Delete the front sway bar.
Information about F150 Coyote swaps into 05-09 V6 Mustangs is pretty scarce because most who are brave enough to Coyote swap these cars (I know you're one of them) use the Mustang engine.

See, now that’s a problem. The truck engines are half a point of compression lower than the Mustang, not a big deal. The cam profiles are different, in the sense that they make more horsepower higher in rpm but the truck cams make a lot more mid range torque."Information about F150 Coyote swaps into 05-09 V6 Mustangs is pretty scarce because most who are brave enough to Coyote swap these cars (I know you're one of them) use the Mustang engine."
Info was out there when I did mine 8 years ago. I knew about the oil filter clearance issue when using a truck 5.0.
I never understood WHY would you not use a mustang 5.0 for a swap, save some cash maybe?
Truck engine makes less power, has lower compression, and different cam.
Might as well neuter it, and lock out the cams.
Lower cost (possibly as much as two grand) and greater availability (especially in Texas) are the likely reasons why a Gen 1 F-150 engine might be more appealing to someone owning an 05-10 V6. Considering it's a 150hp/140lbft upgrade over a 4.0L V6, you get a lot more bang for your buck. If that still isn't enough a pair of Mustang intake cams, Gen 3 Mustang intake manifold with IMRCs locked out, 1-3/4" LT headers, and Mustang oil pan (higher capacity) will scratch that itch.I never understood WHY would you not use a mustang 5.0 for a swap, save some cash maybe?

Ok, so now I’m wondering if that isn’t just a fill amount difference instead of an actual pan difference.Only a 0.3L capacity difference for the Gen 1 & Gen 2 it seems.
