So I had the usual issue with the rear carpet flooding and I resealed both doors; not with the expensive Ford seals but with 3/4" wide 3/8" thick a/c weatherstripping. It came out fine and held through a lot of bad FL weather but yesterday my car had a musty smell and whaddya know; the driver's rear carpet, under-seat and a section under the front floor mat was damp. I pulled the cowl drains when I got the car but just in case I pulled it off and of course it was clean as a whistle. So I was surprised to only get not even five months out of the repair; I assume the window going up and down when the door is opened and shut eventually compromised it since what I pulled off this morning was as flat as the original Ford part, smushed down from 3/8". Rarely have a passenger so that would explain why that side is dry. I hadn't verified that was the problem but for six dollars and a small amount of my time I figured I would reseal it.
So assuming that was the problem, have any of you had to reseal in such a short period of time? I do remember the trim/leak tech at Chevy telling the service advisors on comebacks that such work only has a six month warranty. TIA preesh.
