Looking to install an electric slim fan on my 2006 to make as much room for the turbo as possible. Just started looking into it…seems easy enough but nothing ever turns out that way lol

Do they work good? Is it as easy as cutting the 2 factory wires and wiring the new fan to them? Little research says 1 big fan is better than 2 smaller fans? Any info helps…thanks!!

Whether 1 or 2 fans used, they have to be shrouded. New proposed fan should have the same of greater CFM then the oem 2 speed fan.

Yeah I’m seeing 50/50 info on the shroud. Stinks, the shrouds what I’m trying to eliminate of course lol!!! One article said to get a greater cfm fan than stock to make up for the shroud loss…?

You could ditch the idea entirely. Have you looked into moving the stock fan? You'll need to do some carving on the shroud around the turbo housing. I used a dremel to cut mine back. Did you get a heat blanket for the turbo and down pipe?

Neg…havent seen anything about moving the fan while surfing around the web. Ran across a thread about moving the radiator back an inch awhile back but it didn’t look like it’d work with my hood pins..or I just didn’t understand! I did try trimming around the shroud, and might have gotten it done with more work, but it was reeeeal tight. Just trying to free up some space if it only costs $80 or so.

My problem is my BMR K member doesn’t work with my On3 kit. I’m gonna have to have a few custom pipes made to make it fit and go under the a-arms. I’ve made a bracket to mount the turbo with so the fab guy can just make the correct piping and doesn’t have to install the whole kit. I’ll install most the kit and haul the car to his shop for the 2 “a-arm” pieces.

If I can install an $80 electric fan, it could save me hundreds of $$$ in labor. If those fans suck I won’t do it but if they work just fine…why not, is what I’m looking into anyway!!

I had it “fitting” just with that…but it was touching every where. I do have the turbo blanket and downpipe blanket

Without a shroud, any fan is semi useless at best. Instead of air being pulled through the eng rad / AC rad / auto tranny rad/ HE rad / power steering rad / etc..... a lot of the air will simply go around the fan on it's circumference. IE: eng bay air will circulate through the fan, then back into the intake side of the fan. The shroud ensures that all the air passing through the various rads then has to go directly into the intake side of the fan.

I could almost guarantee an $80 fan is not going to work very well. It either won’t cool the car or it will burn up in very short order.
