Hello, i just bought a 2008 gt with 25000 miles on it, manual.
i want to change fluids and filters. I checked the manual and , here where i live in europe i dont have the brands..
I checked on Castrol and they recomand for my car Castrol GTX 5W-30, but in the car s manual says 5w-20. So...
can you please give some equivalents for oils and filters so i can find it here also ?
Thank you much !!!

A 5W30 full synthetic has been used/recommended in higher output aftermarket models like the Saleen Supercharged model. It would be sufficient. What has been known to happen upon occasion however when using higher viscosities than a 5w30 is that the VTC system (that is dependent upon oil pressure AND flow) may struggle to function properly. There have been reports I have read of this happening when applying 20W50 viscosity.

I still use the 5W20 but in a full synthetic made by AMSOIL in my setup. Seems to be very good stuff. Over 3000 miles (few of them babied) on the oil and it still has a very clear and clean appearance to it. Also running a WIX filter which was recommended by my local speed shop. Purolater also makes a respectable filter. You should be able to cross reference on either their site or the WIX site.

It's nice to see some European appreciation for US automotive badging...of any label to be honest. I tip my hat to you. I know there is love here for many European makes. I personally enjoy the thought of owning a Jaguar one day but a used one (not to mention a new one) is not within my price range. Ah but dreaming is fun.

Very useful informations for me. I like amsoil and use it in the past with very good results, with harleys. I m gonna use it with my stang from now on.And i hope they do equivalents for the rest of the fluids . But now my concern is coolant. I did exchange the coolant and put SHELL ZONE DEXCOOL WITH BITTERIN AGENT. I didnt flush the sistem. Just release the old one and add new one. But a few days ago i was wayving on a forum and i read not very good things about dex cool and stangs. So...now i am confused. I thought i used the right thing according to my car manual. I did a few rides with the car , hope didnt mess anything. Now i m looking for whats right to use.
About europen cars..we all dream the other side !! some of us are lucky enough to live the dream !!
THANK YOU .

If the winters in Romania go below 0*C often I would stick with a 5w-20 or even a 0w-20 if your trips are short.

As for the coolant, dex-cool is bad for cars that did not come with dex-cool already filled. Now you've mixed dex cool with the G-05 factory fill and you need to flush the system.

If i already did a few rides with that mix, its possible to damaged something ? The car runs good, no change, no noise..
I ll flush it asap !!

The winter in romania is very cold, but its mostly a summer car.

The damage will happen slowly over time. The mix will form jelly like sludge and can also ruin the water pump seals.
