I have seen some cars with heatshields on top of the hydro bushings. My 07 doesn't have some, is it worth to add them?

 

I added them. Not

 

Not expensive. Up to you of course.

The TSB I posted below for you is the reason why some later 11-13 MY S197 cars have the heatshields installed on the hydro bushings of the front lower control arms. For the 2014 MY S197's Ford made the heatshields a standard OEM installed part.

Now why Ford didn't do this on the earlier 05-10 MY S197's or make these a retro (my guess is warranty expiration on the 05-10 MY's at the time of discovery) I can't answer but IMHO the exhaust heat had to have been a factor to the earlier MY S197 FLCA hydro bushings going out\failing as well.....exact same design parameters dealing w\ the exact same exhaust heat issues. For example, the hydro bushings on both my '09's OEM FLCA's developed splits in the rubber just inboard of the inner sleeve causing front end tramlining & these bushings are in very close proximity of the exhaust....especially if you're still using the OEM catted midpipe or running LTH's & the FLCA's are black powder coated which will absorb\transfer a lot of exhaust heat into these bushings.

So I agree w\ DieHarder.......I added the heatshields to my replacement FP M-3075-E FLCA's as well to protect them from the exhaust heat as Ford ID'd as the cause thus remedy to the FLCA hydro bushing failures in the TSB....good insurance to help prevent future failures.

I will try to find some. The hydros have lots of superficial tiny cracks, I have some FP arms already bought. I guess the FP bushings are a bit firmer than the normal.

 

Yes....the FP units are OEM GT500 (SVT) units which have the stiffer durometer rubber & stouter, low friction ball joints vs the OEM units for V6, GT & are designed to accept the heatshields.

Hydro what? lol, BTW, there is no liquid inside those. Had to cut them off to install the above.

 

The overall box with both control arms is 22"x16"x11" (LxWxD) and weighs 34 pounds. Each arm is separately boxed inside the overall box and those smaller boxes are 21.5"x15.5"x5". You could stack them as shown in the below pic and they will fit into the same individual box. Hope this helps with your packing ideas.
