Gen3 to 2008 S197, fuel tank swap?

Hi all - I'm working through supplying the Gen3 with the proper amount of fuel. One of the questions that I haven't been able to find a good answer to is; Will the 2011+ s197 plastic fuel tank work for the 2008? Seems like the mounting and filler line up.

Any reason you need the tank and not just an upgraded fuel pump?
