Hello so I just got all the timing in and I noticed that my chain is not properly in the chain guide. I torqued the phaser to 30ft lbs + 90 degrees so I don’t know why it looks like maybe the phaser is not on properly can someone please tell me if this looks okay or do I need to take the phaser off and possibly retorque it? I really don’t wanna deal with another broken guide all help appreciated :)

Something's definitely amiss. Did you ensure that the recess in the back of the phaser was properly seated with the roll pin on the nose of the camshaft? The phaser should sit perfectly flush on the cam. If it doesn't, unbolt it from the cam, correct its position, and torque it down again with a NEW bolt.
DON'T use the old bolt because it's already been stretched and it'll fail.

I feel like it’s supposed to be like that because even the old phaser doesn’t go on and sit all the way image.jpg

Assuming you didn’t pull/replace the cams? Asking as they are different lengths from passenger to driver side.

Asking for the phaser sitting flush, if the dowel is in place on the cam, the phaser bolt should be able to be screwed in by hand with little resistance until final torque. Would also say that you should be able to see the back of the phaser being squared up to the cam once bolted in, even before final torquing.

Assuming you know to get new TTL phaser bolts if you pulled the new bolts out to realign everything.

I installed hot rod cams but I don’t think it should make a difference I made sure they went on the right sides and yes I have extra new phaser bolts just incase something like this would happen

What does the other side look like? Does it line up OK?

If you have the old guide still, place them side by side and do a comparison. I one time had to trim some plastic on a chain guide just to bolt it in. check to make sure they're identical. There may be something on the back side of that guide that is preventing it from sitting flush where it should be. There was some part along the guide that wouldn't clear a casting ridge or something like that. That is the issue I had. I can't remember but I think both times I've done timing chains they were the FRPP kit.

I think the chain guide is not in the right spot. It seems like it lines up with the other side with the tensioner.

I had the wrong sides for the cams took them off and put them on right now everything lines up perfectly thank you for your help I wouldn’t have figured that out
The part number confused me but it’s all on and good to go now just had to take them out and measure them then put the longer one on driver side
