Welcome to the site. Retired from AZ and lived in the city of Glendale. I retired to Idaho, about 50 miles from Canada. I had 30 years of living in that heat. Granted no snow, most of the time. It did snow in Glendale several times while we lived there but melted quickly. But I will take the four seasons, as opposed to having to use your handkerchief, to open your car door. We had a few spells of 116 as I recall. I remember coming in and telling my wife "I now know how a cookie feels in the oven".
I worked downtown Phoenix and typical walk from parking lot was through the ally, cut through the bank lobby and cut through and office complex in order to keep out of the heat.
