Nothing new but a view from the back of the car with the Fuel Tank out. You can see the Panhard Bar installed. We all be cleaned and painted soon. To the right you can see the bottom of the Fuel Pump installed.

So ive just been hoarding parts and the other parts are just sitting on a shelf waiting for me to sell. With my local track closing ive decided to build it as a solid street truck.

Parts i do have,

modified stock frame with ifs front and coilover 4 link rear.
AFR 205 58cc heads
Victor Jr intake
Holley Sniper XFlow with Hyperspark system.
Built 6r80 with Circle D 3c converter. quick 6 controller and custom adapter plate.
Metal cowl induction hood
8an fittings and fuel line from Earls
AEM 400 lph fuel pump
Custom cam and pushrods
Going to have my stock wheels powdercoated a midnight charcoal.
Now i need to find a good set of headers, 1-7/8 tubes preferably.

Now once i get healed up this will all get put together.

Well F**K... not sure why you need to heal but I hope it happens for you... and soon. Being physically broken truly sucks.
Had a 55 gallon drum of oil roll over my ankle at work. Waiting on ortho to get approval to fix it. Right now all I do is sit in a recliner.

Here are the bearing pics. Glad it never knocked or actually blew up. Oil pressure was funky so I pulled it. Front cam bearing had the oil groove 180 so it never got oil. Clowns built this...

Decided to put new rings in it and while doing number 8 piston the ringland took a crap. Im guessing whoever built this didnt really know what they were doing. The pistons are not available so now im on the hunt for something that will work with my combo. Had to measure everything just to get an accurate idea of what was in this engine. I have now confirmed its a 408. Heads have been ported and different valves put in them. I cant figure out what they were doing.

Anyone got ideas on this combo on pump gas?

Bore 4.030
Stroke 4.0
Head gasket compressed thickness .041
Rod length 6.2
Head chamber 58cc
Deck height .810

Every calculator I've used has it at 12.6:1 compression. I ended up getting a set of pistons locally from a friend that will be at 10.98:1 compression ratio.

Im thinking too much compression on pump gas trashed the motor.

What do yall think?

12.6 is high on pump gas. The 10.98 is really 11.0 that’s marginal depending on cam and timing. You might need some octane boost but your engine builder should know more…

FYI I have 10.5:1 in my little 5.0L and she runs good on 93 octane.

I tore apart the engine because 2 cam bearings were installed upside down, which destroyed all the bearings. Number 8 cylinder also had a broken ringland on the piston. I bought the truck with the engine in it and running. Now I'm going back thru it and changing things. Crank, rods, heads, and block are good. Everything else is being changed due to damage. Took me awhile to get the right tools but now have most of everything. Ordered a 600 grit hone for the new plasma moly rings that are on the way. This time I'm only trusting my ocd self to build it.
