For the last few years I have been wanting to build a big pickup to tow our shops 40' enclosed race trailer. I finally decided on a 1988 International S1900. It is powered by a rebuilt DT466 and a 10 speed Eaton Fuller tranmission. I picked the truck up on Monday and already started the build.
Yesterday,
I installed 24.5 polished Alcoa wheels, removed the 5th wheel hitch, degreased the frame and undercoated it.
Today,
I purchased the 2007 dually bed that was on my old F350. We made brackets and just finished installing it.
The distance between the cab and the box is 26". Now, I need to find an old 24" Coffin Sleeper and mount that in the space. Then, it's off to paint.
After the paint is done, I am going to install dual chrome stacks, install a HX40 or HX50 turbo, and make some adjustments to the pump. On a conservative tune, it should make 350hp and 1200 ft lbs. Right now, it looks wierd. But once the gap between the cab and bed is gone, I'm pretty sure that it will be cool.
