Anyone have an MGW shifter/drive shaft loop combo that works? The BMR loop is in the way now...

Thanks.

you have to make a thin plate of metal to go behind where the driveshaft loop bolts in to clear the shifter

Some shims, eh? I'll get under there again Saturday and try that. Any idea how thick to start testing fitment?

I had to shim mine also and I have a Pro5.0 I think I had to go at least a 1/4 inch.

Any follow-up to this? Got a MGW shifter, getting ready to purchase a BMR front driveshaft loop.

I don't have an MGW, but my DS loop was making contact with my shifter when I installed it. I just took a big Crescent wrench and slipped it over the loop and pried on it until there was no more interference.

My BMR front loop was fine with two separate MGWs and two separate Pro 5.0s. I have a Pro 5.0 in there now with the loop and do not have clearance problems.

w/ the CHE loop and a MGW and Spydershaft, we had to grind the top of the loop down flat (maybe a 1/8") to get it to fit. The MGW was set @ 7 turns out and there was maybe 1/8" clearance to the DS from the bottom of the shifter.

We're talking about the BMR loop, though. What were your settings on the MGW when you were using the BMR loop with no clearance issues and no shim, as you stated above?

I never had the BMR - my MGW is set @ 7 turns out.

I was addressing the OP which was:

Thanks.

i had a little getting the bmr loop to fit with my pro 50...it depends on which set of bolt holes you use on the transmission crossmember

the front set was a no go

the rear set worked, but i had to modify the loop a little to make it work and clear the x pipe

Did you have your MGW set to a very short throw?

On both MGWs I had, I went from 1 - 10 without clearance problems. It was close though. I've heard of this clearance problem before and remember it was determined the angle of the DS loop was the culprit. Some people shimmed the DS loop to go back past the bottom of the shifter, although I would not be comfortable doing that. Some guy made a steel plate as a shimm vs using washers which made the mounting of the loop sturdier.

I bought the Moroso one that BBR sells. Works fine. No hitting anywhere with the MGW and Spydershaft DS. I made a install/tech thread in the TECH section showing what was done to install it and shows pictures.

Recently ran into this problem myself. Had a Calimer stage 2, and a BMR driveshaft loop ready to go into the car and it already had the MGW shifter. Got it all in and couldn’t get the DS loop to fit. Couple friends recommended the stifflers DS loop but that’s more money. What do y’all recommend?
