I have always had my MGW on my 06 gt at 1 turn. I wanted to make it more aggressive so I went 5 turns out. I honestly could not tell a difference so i went back under and went 7 turns out. This time I had to push the bar forward to line up with the hole. I still cant tell any difference in shortness and I missed the hell out of 3rd today at WOT. After I missed 3rd I was driving in 2nd and held the clutch in and repeatedly tried jamming 3rd but it stopped me every time. Any ideas on the issue? I would assume there would be large difference between 1 and 7 turns. Please help.

Thanks,
James

i honestly have no idea what could be going on here ...there should be a BIG difference in shifting from 1 turn out to 7 turns out. and why you are missing 3rd now...are you trying to dogleg the shifter too much ??

is there anything hitting the shifter that you can see...call me on my cell tomorrow at 706-829-3030 as i will be traveling ...somethings definitely not right...our shifters MAIN claim to fame is 3rd gear!!!

George,
Thanks for the speedy reply first off! Not trying to dogleg at all really. Just pushing straight forward like I would normally. It isnt touching anything. I wish I could make it more aggressive but at 7 turns out and no difference, Im not sure what to do. I will call you tomorrow. Again, thanks for the reply.

I'm at 5 turns and could not be happier. I would like to thank MGW for a more then perfect shifter. Every single gear shift thru all 5 is 10x's better then stock!!

I had that problem just a couple of weekends ago while I was at the track. I missed 3rd everytime... I am not claiming to be the best driver and have been known to miss 3rd every now and then, but not every single pass... I havent drivin it since to see whats up but it is definitely frustrating that is for sure.

i think the main issue you guys must be having is that you are trying to "dogleg " the shifter if you are missing third. it truly is a no brainer and we have sold over 1000 2005 shifters and the third gear is its BEST feature by far.

try pushing straight up and let the springs do the work!!!

also practice with the car sitting still to make sure you dont feel the lever hitting the 3-5 gate at all....

if it shifts great at low speeds but locks up at higher rpms it may also be a synchro issue or possibly clutch

the way Rick@amazon told one of our customers back in the day was by far the best explination i ever heard.

"listen steve, its not that hard. quit gripping the shifter like you grip your dick. just put the shifter in the palm of your hand and push towards where 3rd gear is. it will go in. the shifter will do its job"
